A New Richard,
By
This review is from: Crush (Audio CD)
I too am a die hard fan of Richard and I have to say this album did disappoint me too when I first bought it. Having said that though this is one of those albums that the more you play it the more it grows on you. I guess this is somewhat of a change of direction for Richard, a move away slightly from his trade mark passionate and spirited playing. I loved Chill Factor and Jumpin Off, this is the Richard we all know and love, but time moves on, artists evolve and we have to get used to change. This is a good album and over time you really warm to it. I cant say I'm fond of the vocal tracks and my only real complaint would be that there are too many of them - lets have a chance to savour the one thing Richard is good at, spirited and moody sax playing. Unfortunately its not until tracks 9 and 10 that we get a chance to really appreciate this. My favourite tracks are the title track "Crush" and track 9 "Shotgun".

Nice Try, Richard,

This is kind of different from his albums before. However, I like this album so much and I can see his changes here. Maybe he wanted to try some other kinds of music, and I like it very much. We can see his change in whole tracks, more moody and rhythmic Richard, especially in "Q.T.", "Work All Night", and "Sticky Wicked". My Favourites are "Crush", "Q.T.", "Shotgun", and "Sticky Wicked."Artists need change, or musics can get boring, I think.

Good smooth jazz album with a few of memorable favorites,
By Ralph de Leon (Littlerock, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crush (Audio CD)
This is my first Richard Elliot CD which I bought with the recommendation of you other folks. I was not disappointed with the exception of the unmemorable vocal numbers, which I felt were unnecessary and detracted from the CD (In my opinion). This is a sultry and sensous sax cd for those who like smooth jazz. My personal favorites are "Crush", Track 1 "Still Sweet on you", Track 3, "Shotgun", Track 9, and "Sticky Wicked" Track 10.
