Efficient studying,

Everyone in my program uses this book to study for Step 3 (I'm a third year pediatric resident so I was worried that I was out of touch with bread and butter medicine). You have to know every single word in the book since it is very high yield. But it is perfect for a quick, efficient review of important topics. My only goal was to pass but I actually did pretty well on the exam. The book needs more on ethics and social issues. But, I used the old edition (neon green and black cover) and maybe the new edition covers that -- not sure though (which is why, if I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars). I paired it with Kaplan's Qbook and felt very well prepared for the exam.

This is the best book that someone can find for the step 3 preparations. I just took my step and find this book extremely useful. If you have time go through Kaplan Bank since the combination is unbeatable. for the step 3 I well prepared and read from many sources (Kaplan step 2 and 3 kit, Swanson, ace the board, Kaplan Qbank) and I find this book as some one read all the sources that I used and made an excellent review book for the step 3. In one sentence, this is the best and most useful available source for whom ever wants to take step3.

I can't say enough good things about this book. Concise, high-yield, easy to read and well-organized. Covered all the important topics that were on my exam. In retrospect, the other books I used (Swanson's family practice review, step 3 made ridiculously simple) paled in comparison.

High yield - good for busy residents,

I am a third year surgical resident taking 3 years too long to take the exam. My schedule doesn't allow for alot of time, so I bought three review books. This one was the most high yield and didn't bring me through alot of the meaningless trivia that the others had. It states what you should concentrate on and what is important. I think this is a great book to have for review.

Super high yield, only book I used and only reason I passed since I had almost no time to study. Not only does this book cover all major topics at a perfect level of depth for a review book, but I learned several points about some of the subspecialties that I never knew, some of which appeared on my exam. Best step 3 review book out there, hands down.

You can definitely crush the exam with this book. Very high-yield, well written, packed full of info (how did it all fit in 200 pages?). I did much better on step 3 compared to step 2 with this book, though I studied less. Powerful stuff...

Fantastic review for Step 3!,

Really glad I used this book for Step 3 review. Like most residents, I had very little time or energy to devote to studying for the exam. This book can be read over a few days and contains strictly high-yield info presented in an easy to digest manner. This author really understands the way board examiners think and ask questions and presents the material in a way that is designed to help you pass. I would recommend this book to anyone who is preparing for the exam!

I became a believer.,

I was a believer in First Aid and Blue Prints books that I used for steps 1 and 2. There was no Step 3 First Aid at the time and so I tried this book. This turned out to be an excellent book for step 3 review. It covered the topics sufficiently for adequate review. I used this book in conjunction with "Boards and Wards" and worked questions in the NMS step 3 books as well as the kaplan q-bank. That works. Most say that it is not necessary to spend much time studying for step 3. This is true, but you do need to study some. This book reads quickly and the information is high yield. I highly recommend it and hope that new editions are released over the years.

not as good as claimed!!!,

This book should have been better named as, 'crush step 2'. Step 3 is an entirely different exam. Whatever is written in this book is 'common sense'. I recently took USMLE STEP 3 field trial after reading this book. not effective. the point is that do not be crazy about this book. Blueprint series is much better than this. It has spelling mistakes in it and at times it gives you the wrong information. Step 3 is more management oriented than diagnosis oriented and this book tells you too little about the management. I found NMS review for USMLE STEP 3 closer to the step 3 format.

By far, the best step 3 book on the market (not that there are many to choose from!). Great layout and organization, great test-taking pointers, and multiple photos, one of which appeared on my exam. Definitely got an extra 20 questions right because I read this right before the exam. Highly recommend it!
