CRUSH is a S-M-A-S-H,
This review is from: Crush (MP3 Download)
David has delivered an amazing first single to his fans, and the public. It is rhythmic, David's superior vocals soar and are identifiable throughout, has a catchy beat.. Hey-> I watched lotsa American Bandstand back in the day :)His older fans like me find themselves humming along unconsciously, and the verses transport the listener back to those bygone days of school girl and schoolboy CRUSHES... It has an appeal across a very broad spectrum of listeners, and should effectively silence the detractors and critics who didn't believe he had mainstream appeal. CRUSH is the catapult for David to continue his growth and evolution as an artist - I ANTICIPATE MANY MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING MUSIC FROM HIM. TAKE A BOW DAVID... YOU'VE ARRIVED.

Keep in Mind I Don't Even Follow American Idol,

I heard "Crush" for the first time on the radio tonight, and what caught me immediately was the progression played by the piano at the beginning. This progression carries the song through the first and second verses; it's simple but one of my favorites. At first, I thought it was Chris Brown- until the first verse started. David's voice is even better because he doesn't have to resort to vocal acrobatics or vocoder effects to sound good; he uses the bare minimum and it works very well. After researching the song, I found out one of its writers (Kirakou) was responsible for some of my other favorite pop songs (i.e. "What's Left Of Me"); and in fact I haven't heard a song from him I didn't like. I have a feeling "Crush" will be on my constant rotation list for quite a while.

I had the pleasure of attending the Idols Live Tour 2008 in Worcester, Mass the other night and let me just say that David's vocals blew me away. Everyone knows he was good on Idol but until you hear that voice in person? Nothing compares. He was so genuinely sweet and nice signing for everyone after the show and seemed to be enjoying every moment of this time in his life.I'm thrilled that this is his first single because it helps him out in a way his performances on Idol didn't, it's modern and YOUNG. This is a song that you can see as a huge radio hit already. I listened to it once when it premiered on a radio station in New York and was hooked by the catchy chorus. It's a song everyone can relate to and it's fun and fresh. Great start to your career David!!!
