A Taste of Things to Come,

This song is a great first single and shows that David can do contemporary music as beautifully as he does the slow ballads. Everyone can connect with the lyrics and the music is so addictive. Crush wets our appetites for the Cd which will surely be a hit.

I expected big things from David Archuleta, and his first major label single has delivered. It is catchy, upbeat, and tells a story that people of all ages can relate to. Put these qualities along with his amazing and distinct voice, and I believe we're looking at a chart-topper. They said this guy can sing anything and draw you in - which is true - but CRUSH isn't just anything, it really is a great song. After listening to this song, I can't wait for David's first album release in November. Buy this song - you won't be sorry!

This song is catchy and fun, and an ideal first single that should help "Archie" (as his many fans lovingly call him) break into the industry.
Though originally written by others, elements of David's artistry are already apparent here in his vocal choices, and the additional melodic lines towards the end of the song. David does a great job at conveying the intense feelings of young love. And yes, this is only a taste of the immense talent, creativity, and passion that David will bring to his music in years to come.

Okay, so I'll admit it: I wasn't really sure what to expect from Jive, in the way of David's first single. I was crossing my fingers that the direction chosen, was one that I could ultimately follow. I'm 27 and I don't exactly do the whole light and fluffy bubblegum pop genre of music. It's not my style. I need some sort of substance. I want to FEEL something when I listen, whether it is being moved by the lyrical content, the artist's deliverance or the actual melody and rhythm of the music itself. "Crush" was a pleasant surprise! The lyrics have universal appeal that anyone can identify with. It has a catchy beat. I can't help but bob my head along to it. (I love the descending piano chords that it begins with.) Then, of course there is David's voice. It's so smooth. Much more soulful than I expected. In short, I love this song. It's very current and has a cool vibe to it. It makes me look forward to what's in the future. Great job, David!!!

From MasterclassLady.Com: David Archuleta's Single will "Crush" The Airwaves,

David Archuleta's new single, "Crush", has received overwhelmingly favorable reviews. And, rightfully so! This new single should dispel any rumors that David is not destined for an extremely lucrative career as a current pop artist.
And, with the release of his new single, "Crush" the buzz is certainly out there. David Archuleta has arrived and in a monumental way. Recently signed by 19Recordings/Jive Records, a record company noted for it's ability to successfully create and market young artists who appeal to the mainstream audience, David's new single is brimming with the youthful enthusiasm and soulful excellence that has made him a star in the past season of American Idol. As I listen to "Crush", I am immediately impressed by the clarity of the end production. Usually, the singer's voice is overshadowed by the background arrangement but, in David's case, his superior vocals remain the focal point in the production mix. And so it should! After all, it's David's extraordinary voice and capability to touch people's hearts with his vocal instrument that has allowed him to distinguish himself from the rest of the pack. His unique ability to combine his passionate soulful artistry with brilliant vocal skills is something truly special in this day and age of over-processed vocal recordings. His voice should - and needs to - be heard and I believe that Jive understood this fact above all else. David himself has gone on record to state that he wants to appeal to a young, current demographic and this song certainly does that. I am loving David's young, fresh, enthusiatic version of "Crush", watching as it climbs the Billboard charts and receives more airplay with each passing day. Make no mistake about it - this song is going to be a huge hit.

Well, for many of us, we've been waiting for this since the first note of Waiting on the World to Change back in January. For others, they're discovering him on tour. Either way, I'm so excited for "Crush!!" It's EXACTLY what he needed to put out right now...it shows beautifully that he can sing a pop song and not just ballads (although I can't wait for a few ballads to show off THAT VOICE).
This song is fun, has an AMAZING hook (two, actually) that you can't get out of your head, and enough vocal fun to appease some of us Archies who are in love with the voice. Go David!!

Great debut single for David Archuleta,
This review is from: Crush (MP3 Download)
After hearing David on TV for months, I've been wondering how his own song will sound. I'm delighted that Crush is very contemporary, it's focuses more on David's personality than his amazing vocal range but still is great debut for him. I'm certain that I will hear Crush a lot in the future, this song isn't going away-way-yeah!

Safe sailing,

David A. plays it safe with his debut single, a song that suits his voice and personality perfectly. The "little guy" from American Idol Season 7 makes good with "Crush", a sweet and likable song about young love.
"Am I crazy or falling in love? Is it real or just another crush?" A melodious intro, a catchy and soaring chorus, a little of that Archuleta falsetto plus a big finish make for a worthwhile listening experience for any American Idol or pop music fan. Firmly in the pop mainstream, this song should make enough waves to push the forthcoming album along without the threat of capsizing the boat. Amanda Richards, August 29, 2008

extremely addictive song <3,
This review is from: Crush (MP3 Download)
Whoever said David Archuleta could not sing contemporary music was terribly wrong. I loved him immensely while he was on American Idol, and since the show ended, I've loved him even more. Crush, like David said himself in an interview is just a pop song but an amazing one that is sooo catchy and addictive. I myself have it on repeat quite often. The lyrics are written to appeal to the teenage market. However I am 22 years old, and I myself can relate to the emotions within the song. I really look forward to more from his album later this year.
I'd also like to note that having met David this summer during the Idols Live Tour, he is a complete sweetheart. Having someone so humble, sincere, and genuine in the music industry is really a breath of fresh air. <3 |
