5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yet!
Some Girls-led by the irrepressible Julianna Hatfield (with Heidi Gluck on bass and Freda Love on drums) are back with a great new CD- Chrushing Love. Like their first Cd the music is pop rock & the theme is mostly the ups & down of love and relationships. The quality is first rate- Julianna is in fine voice and the songs are better than on the first CD.

There are some pleasant surprises on Chrushing Love.Like new sonic textures that enhance the music without overwhelming it & some nice touches of humor on songs like Rock or Pop? and Social Control. The CD also gets stronger, more intense at the end with Never Really Mine, Kill the Bottle and Magnetic Fields.
Magnetic Fields contains the title phrase Chrushing Love and deserves to be a hit!
This CD is so good it could be my favorite of the year. If you buy it-it could be yours. Fans of Julianna Hatfield should rally to this-its among her best CDs!
FYI- The CD comes with a low budget DVD containing some live footage & snippets of fun in the studio. Album gets Parental advisory for a couple of bad words . Most songs are completely clean.I believe a totally clean version is available.

Refreshing and full of dry humor, Crushing Love has taken over the CD player in my car and won't be coming out soon. Juliana is at the top of her game, with scorching, distorted leads and thoughtful lyrics. Gluck and Love round out the trio with sweet harmonies and solid work on bass and drums. There's a spare quality to the overall composition that leads you to another listen, with pleasant results. These guys like each other, enjoy creating their music and have produced something worth your time and hard-earned bucks. No artificial colors or flavors.

The included video is edited in a way that conveys what they like about performing and captures exactly what I like about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars More great music from Juliana!, July 19, 2006
This review is from: Crushing Love (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
This is a great CD/DVD package that illustrates yet again that JH is the most talented and tasteful rocker out there. (A deliberately raw and sloppy mini-DVD of jams and performance clips from the "Feel It" tour is included and hints at what a full-length JH DVD would be like.)

"Hooray for LA" is one big hook, largely because of the bass line. The lyrics reference "music in the bars that makes the floors shake" and you'll want to crank this one up until it makes your own floors shake.

"Social Control" is hilarious!

Her collaborations take the pressure off, I think. She loosens up and does what she does best. Don't get me wrong, her solo work is mind-blowing. I simply think she's more comfortable surrounded by other talented artists. Love and Gluck really round out her talent. These ladies are a testament to hard work and good old fashioned rock-n-roll. A solid performance.

4.0 out of 5 stars An album that creeps up and mugs you., February 8, 2008

This didn't blow me away the first time I heard it, but I ended up listening to little else for a month or so. It's got something. The lyrics are smart and funny, the music just offbeat enough to creep under your skin. Recommended.

This collection of songs from the Some Girls is great. All well crafted and lovely.
The DVD however is something that only true fans will enjoy.
