This review is from: The Dog Crusoe and His Master A Story of Adventure in the Western Prairies (Kindle Edition)
If you sat down and tried to think of every possible situation in which a dog could be a hero, you would have the outline for this book. Give me a nickel for everytime this dog saves a human, intervenes in a dangerous situation, saves the town, (are you thinking Metropolis yet?), saves the day, and saves his human from embarrassment, and I could take you out for a lobster dinner. The stories are mildly entertaining, in the way that tall tales are entertaining. Ten-year-olds who are not big on video games might like this book. It's got some stories that are parables, some that are cautionary tales. But it's not a masterpiece. If you really like dogs this might be the book for you. Otherwise, you can do better with the story of "How I found Livingstone" by Mr. Stanley. Now THAT'S a story!
