The 13 part television series Crusoe is the latest take on the novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. This version of the story follows a young Robinson Crusoe played by hunky Philip C. Winchester who is the only survivor of a shipwreck. Crusoe finds himself alone and stranded on a lavish-exotic island with its share of mystery and danger. Luckily for Crusoe he is able to make fast friends with the equally handsome and capable Friday played by Tongayi Arnold Chirisa after saving him from being sacrificed by cannibals. Crusoe teaches Friday English and about the technology he's learned in England while Friday on the other hand teaches Crusoe how to survive on the island and how to be a better man. The two work together to build a safe place to live (a tree house that you have to see to believe, its visually impressive) while Crusoe attempts to find ways to get off the island so that he can return to his beloved wife whom he his admirably devoted to and his 2 children in England. Returning home to his family isn't nearly as easy as it sounds especially with the island being visited by pirates, mutineers, and cannibals all providing different levels of adventure and danger outside of the two's day-to-day island

I'm not sure where this show would have gone had it not been cancelled, it rather played itself out by the time it came to an end, but on DVDs or streaming, without the commercials, it makes for a nice long movie.

This version of "Robinson Crusoe" plays like a bit of "Swiss Family Robinson" and "Gilligans Island" as he's not just marooned, he's inventively so. He doesn't just errect a shelter but a tree-top aerie of several wings, an architectural wonder in bamboo and driftwood, and parts of ships. Pirates show up; cannibals, everyone chased away.

And for the gayboys and ladies, there's lots of beautiful chest shots of the two main actors.

This is very entertaining, good for the entire family (provided they can sit still) and beautifully filmed. If only there was more TV like it. But, you can buy or rent the show and that's better than nothing.

I loved this season. It was so action packed and I didn't know what was going to happen next. I had seen the show on tv when it first came out but never got to see all the episodes. It kept me guessing and interested the whole time. The acting was great and each character brought his own type to the show. The scenes were put together very well and were very realistic and detailed. I have no bad things to say about this tv show. I watched all 12 episodes in one sitting because I didn't want to stop watching it. I wish they would make another season!

I loved this TV show and wish it hadn't been cancelled because I would have gladly watched more episodes after this first season.

I am so disappointed that it was only one season long. They did not even see to Crusoe getting off the island! And this show aired 6 years ago! I do not know why there was not a season two. The acting was great, the story lines intriguing.. I do not understand why it would only have a one season slot? I would have LOVED to see the outcome and the meeting again of Sarah and Crusoe. There was no closure. But, other then that, a great show...Especially if you like history based movies.

Well done series. Lots of fun to watch how Crusoe and Friday survive invasion by pirates, mutineers and cannibals. Crusoe and Friday's characters have depth and the story examines the two cultures they represent.

Fun adventure. Nice treehouse. Sean Bean is in this just enough to get credit but if u watch it for him, you'll be sad...not in it much.
