5.0 out of 5 stars The best flash drive ever!
I had a few flash drives and I would throw them in my bag all the time - before I knew it they would die at the most inappropriate times (usually about 6 months later). I had the 512 Kb version of the Titanium now for well over a year and it still works great. This is the first drive where I am confident that my data is safe.

I just recently bought the 2.0...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled - "Titanium" Cruzer can't survive static electricity
Don't be fooled by SanDisk's claims of indestructibility for this "Titanium" Cruzer model. It may be able to withstand a crushing force of 2,000 pounds, but it was no match for a simple jolt of household static electricity, which fried my 1 GB version of the product within three weeks of my purchasing it, causing me to permanently lose all of my data (which of course I...

This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)

I had the 512 Kb version of the Titanium now for well over a year and it still works great. This is the first drive where I am confident that my data is safe.

I just recently bought the 2.0 GB model and of course it is even better since I can now store 4x more pictures, music, Excel files, etc.

I have used SanDisk products for about six years now and I never had a problem.

Very reliable! Just be careful not to build up a static charge as you walk across the carpet and discharge into the Thumb drive! ...That's what I did! And Sandisk honored the lifetime warranty and replaced it, even when I told them how careless I'd been.

Now I always touch and ground myself before removing from my computer.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT, April 21, 2006
This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)
I just upgraded from a 256MB Dell to this, and I love it! It is everything I wanted, and I haven't noticed any speed problems. It even seems as though the speed is BETTER on this 2GB titanium.

I would greatly reccommend this product to others!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled - "Titanium" Cruzer can't survive static electricity, April 18, 2006
This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)
Don't be fooled by SanDisk's claims of indestructibility for this "Titanium" Cruzer model. It may be able to withstand a crushing force of 2,000 pounds, but it was no match for a simple jolt of household static electricity, which fried my 1 GB version of the product within three weeks of my purchasing it, causing me to permanently lose all of my data (which of course I had not backed up). Data recovery services were unable to get the drive to light up or recover my data - they can only assist in "undeleting" deleted files, if the drive will actually mount. The static electricity prevented the drive from ever being mountable again.

I'm quite disappointed with SanDisk's response to the problem when I called. In my experience, their products are generally high quality and their tech support is good. But not in the case of this cursed model of Titanium Cruzer. I wish I'd read some of the online reviews before purchasing this model -- tons of people are having this same problem and poor response from SanDisk. The metal casing that provides the model's "sturdiness" also puts the electronic innards at great risk.

SanDisk Tech Support was only willing to replace the unit with the exact same defective model -- which is totally unethical, in my opinion, given the numbers of anecdotal reports I see with people having the exact same problem I had. SanDisk was not willing to replace my defective Titanium model 1 GB (SDCZ3-1024-A10) with the newer Titanium model 1 GB (SDCZ7-1024-A1) that has a safer plastic casing and U3 technology.

SanDisk - if you're reading this - are you sure you're willing to risk your reputation on your miserable handling of this situation?

Consumers, please, do yourself a favor and stay away from this model and buy the newer one with a safer plastic housing and U3 technology. Otherwise, your data will be at risk of permanent loss with a simple zap of static electricity.

4.0 out of 5 stars a very useful flash drive, March 14, 2006

The large storage capacity for this 2 GB flash drive is very useful - even for handling large Powerpoint presentations that seem to be a staple of existence for every Army staff I've been on. I haven't sent the metal case through the wash yet - and hopefully I never will - but it's been sturdy enough to take a beating in my pocket. The retracting mechanism for the male USB plug can be a little annoying when it sticks, but that is not that often. Good job to the folks at Sandisk

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd bought this sooner!, April 17, 2006

I'm not much of a techie. But, I do have lots of documents and pictures that I can't bear to lose should my computer decide to konk out one day.

I used to back up my most important files on CD: an overly complex and tedious process involving multiple CDs and lots of time. But, with this 2GB flash drive backing up my important documents is just a matter of plugging the device in and selecting which files and folders to synchronize. The files are copied over to the device quickly, and easily.

The 2 Gig storage capacity allows me to backup all of my most important photos and documents on one handy removeable drive.

ScanDisk even includes a "Synch" software that simplifies the process of identifying and copying your important data. (The software also helps you copy over your Outlook messages, folders, appointments, tasks, and other data that used to be difficult for me to find on my hard drive.)

Also, I can imagine that the use of the Synch software with this little drive would made it very easy to keep the data on your work machine syched up with the data on your home machine.

Physically, the unit is small, sleek with a case that feels substantial. The retractable connector functions smoothly and allows the case to protect the connector when not in use.

This thing is great. I only wish I'd started using it sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cruzer Titanium is a no brainer, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)
It is so Convenient and Sturdy: I wear my drive around my neck at work, and it certainly gets its knocks. The expense is nominal considering the quality of the product. I bought the 2G so I have music, photos, documents, schedules, to name a few, on this light weight, thin drive, and I know that my important documents are near and secure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sandisk Titanium Rocks!, March 23, 2006
This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)
I'm a student and use my USB drive all the time, my previous ones end up losing their caps eventually and breaking thereafter. The Titanium can take a any hit and doesn't have a cap for it to break! The only thing I can criticize it for, is not living up to it's speed rating, and that is most likely due to it being a 2GB drive, the larger the memory, the slower flash drives work... it's still faster than most any other product though. I wouldn't choose any other drive if I were given the choice again.

5.0 out of 5 stars One excellent USB Drive: I love it!, November 7, 2007

This review is from: Cruzer Titanium 2GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ3-2048-A10, Retail Package) (Video Game)
I love the SDCZ3-2048 AKA Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 2GB.

Mine actually died a few weeks ago but that might have been my fault.
I didn't "dismount" or properly stop the drive before removing it and now it doesn't work but I had it for 3 years with no problems.
Fortunately I keep good backups and had done one the night prior.

Anyhow, it has a sleek design with its titanium case and laser etched writing on it.
The sandisk software that comes with it can be used to secure your data on the drive so if you do lose it the finder can't access the data without certain recovery software.

It works on all my computers either Linux, Mac OS X, Windows and FreeBSD Unix. It's great.

Ignore negative reviews about it because it works fine, just be careful how you dismount it. (e.g., in Windows, click the task tray icon next to the clock to "stop" the device THEN remove it.) That cuts the power (I think) to the device to reduce the risk of damage when removing it.

Enjoy!
I missed it so much I bought 2 more on Amazon and 2 off Ebay to replace it.
