Well-intentioned but inaccurate,
This book was written with the best of intentions, by a writer with a touching sense of devotion to Katie. But as an account of Katie's experience and insight, it is inaccurate, and many of the details about Katie's life are simply wrong. In addition, all quotes from Katie are questionable. When I pointed out a number of these passages to Katie in 2000, she agree to discontinue publication. (I should also say that Christin Weber, with a humility and acquiescence that is very rare among writers, agreed to this, and told Katie that she wanted whatever would best serve her and The Work.)I invite those who are interested in Katie's life and thought to read her book "A Thousand Names for Joy," and to keep in touch with her through her blog and website, [...], and through Twitter.

This review is from: A Cry in the Desert: The Awakening of Byron Katie (Paperback)
This is a very unique book that tells a very intimate portrait of Katie life during her process and after her awakening, it is very good for the people that already know her amazing process and want to know more about the details of her life and how she was like many of us a human suffering, is very inspiring and since is out of print any copie around is very valuable.

The REAL Story.,

This review is from: A Cry in the Desert: The Awakening of Byron Katie (Paperback)
This is the story of Byron Katie before she got concerned with marketing and packaging herself as a product. It accurately depicts her growth process but contradicts the carefully created myth of Prophet-like status created and sold by her organization and her money-conscious husband Stephen Mitchell, who is currently suing Wayne Dyer for allegedly using Mitchell's words in a book. Read this if you want to have the story that most closely tells the truth. She is a wonderful lady who has lost her way in the last 5-ish years selling herself as a polished package, selling "certified facilitator" training and chasing dollars rather than enlightenment.

People need to go to Cult Education Forum and read up on Byron Katie's books and organization.
The reason this book was pulled from circulation is not what the other pro-Katie reviewer says it is. Read the web and educate yourself. |
