REVIEWER'S DISCLAIMER:
Since I am familiar with the original lp, I will submit a token review to help those who are still sitting on the fence. I bought this in the days when most of my friends were spending their allowance money and paper route money on 45s-I bought the BTs first lp "The Letter" and frankly could not wait for the next lp- and was not disappointed! (For those of you who had the terminal Playtape players, I was going to submit some track ideas for releasing this and "The Letter" to Playtape!!)
I feel certain that SUNDAZED has done an excellent job with this disc-as they usually do based upon the way they treated "Dimensions"-a cd resissue that I do own from the same company.

This is one of my favorite Box Tops albums-includes the album (stereo) version of "Cry Like A Baby" with that wonderful sitar and bass guitar sound. No other hits on here-but the album cuts continue with the horns and strings. Alex and the band-or studio cats- create some real gutsy sounds on "Deep in Kentucky", "Fields of Clover","727" (which lyrically harkens back to "The Letter"), and "Lost". The more tender side of Alex is displayed on "The Trouble With Sam", "I'm the One For You" and "Good Morning Dear". "Weeping Annalea" is filler, but the rest of the recording is very good. I do not have a cd copy yet-but if you are like me and you dig that Alex Chilton/funky Memphis sound-you will want this cd. I really do not think you will be disappointed if you dig Alex's gritty vocals and that funky Memphis picking. Dan Penn and Mark James again do a great job with the songs and production. And the bonus traacks-Happy New Year!! Get this-'nuff said!
