Julie Rules, June 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Cry Me a River (Audio CD)
Julie London's voice is one of the greatest. Add that she was an actress and a stunningly beautiful bombshell and ask why isn't she better known, even revered. Just listen to this CD and you may revere her too. She was known as having the 'come hither' voice, and there is an intimacy and warmth in her songs that shames countless better known singers. This is a great collection, and I heartily recommend it to anyone who likes the songs from the era of Sinatra, and Dean Martin.

The BEST Julie London Collection, IF YOU CAN FIND IT!, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Cry Me a River (Audio CD)
Here, in three superb discs, you have the VERY BEST of JULIE! Short, Sweet, and Neat! One Box! All her Hits! A Great Low Price! (But, I see, sadly, no longer in print!)
If you are unable to locate or obtain a copy of this set, by all means, DO go for the double album "The Wonderful World Of/The End of The World" from EMI, which contains many of the songs here on this box set.
Certainly, one of the finest singers of all time, Julie London belongs on your shelves of music, if you truly love great ballads and love songs...NOBODY (even including Peggy Lee) had the "Come Hither and Listen to Me" that Julie had. After all these years, and all these hearings, I still fall, willingly, under her spell, time and time again...what a Great Entertainer she was. If you can, get yourself a copy of this set, you will be forever glad you did! Enjoy! ~operabruin

julie london, July 1, 2008
This review is from: Cry Me a River (Audio CD)
There is, simply, no better singer of the "standard" than Julie London.
Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald may be magnificent, but give me JL, please. Her taste is exquisite, if she hasn't recorded it, it is probably not worth recording.
Like the other great artists of the world, she has made one great song her very own, "Cry Me a River." And what a great and beautifully arranged song that is. I am sure Barney Kessel is delighted that she chose him as her main accompanist for what is a true popular classic.
Could anyone do "I'll Remember April" or "Little White Lies" better? I don't think so, but these are just three gems among gems.
