5.0 out of 5 stars Justin remixed.
This is the 2nd single from the now solo Justin Timberlake and it is quite good. The main reason I bought this and the 2nd part of this single are for the remixes. The cd comes with 2 full length remixes that are really well done. The first track is the original Timbaland production (4:50) that remains the best version here. Then you get the Dirty Vegas Vocal Mix(7:45)...

cry me a river? now what kind of song is that? and Justin singing it makes it even worse. people actually classify this as music? hmm.. shame, shame on them. now that's just completely laughable. but oh well, everyone mistakes things every now and then for what they aren't, but how could they mistake this?

The cd comes with 2 full length remixes that are really well done. The first track is the original Timbaland production (4:50) that remains the best version here. Then you get the Dirty Vegas Vocal Mix(7:45) that is similar to their own song and their remix of Madonna's "Die Another Day". Then you get the Bill Hamel Vocal Remix(6:48) . This mix is the best mix because it is very trancy yet underground for the hardest of DJs. Excellent...

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, August 21, 2003

This is a great song from Timbaland and JT. The beat is amazing with a tough edge to it. You can "feel" this song. The live performances are amazing, but the single vocals are perfect.

Buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bill Hamel Vocal Remix is the best mix in the house!, March 14, 2003
This review is from: Cry Me a River 1 (Audio CD)

This song, in it's original incarnation is fine. It's a hip-hop meets pop type of mixture that makes for some fun sing-a-long action.

The best version, topping the original and all the remixes I have heard; however, is the Bill Hamel Vocal. Another reviewer puts it as "Trancey", I thought about that term but did not really think that fit, but it is somewhat a good description. The mix starts out with a nice flowing keyboard that is, well trancey in a way. It seems to have more of a R&B type quality to it. Anyway, the mix builds quickly to go get to the vocal and then all turbo-boosters kick in an you go rocketing forth like the Japanese Bullet Train but with a rough and tumble back beat as opposed to a euro beat or a plain dance beat.

The soundscape of this mix suits the vocal and the attitude of this song perfectly, adding an errie and dark feel to the mix. At just over 6 and a half minutes, this mix does not bore me with a drawn out intro or repetitious parts that can be prevailent in club mixes.

5.0 out of 5 stars balancing act, March 4, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Cry Me a River 1 (Audio CD)
It's easy to see why Timberlake won the male vocal Grammy for this performance, what with his sinister vocals always verging on sweetness-a fine line to maintain. THis balancing act is well-served by the stylish video included.

As for the remixes, you know British electronica trio Dirty vegas from "Days Go By"? Well, their remix of this sticatto song is throbbingly sublime!

Bill Hamel's "vocal remix" sounds like a lush orchestral tour of Heaven, albeit on the angels' day off!

5.0 out of 5 stars I totally did not expect this from Justin..., February 8, 2003
This review is from: Cry Me a River 1 (Audio CD)
If you've clicked onto my review, you probably think I'm a teeny-bopper who's in love with Justin and N*Sync...that's about the opposite of me. I hate N*Sync, Justin and boy bands in general. But I love this song. The only reason I heard it was because the song came onto my internet radio playlist. I listened and I liked. So I clicked to find out who it was by. When I found out it was by Timberlake I was..shocked. I actually think he's one of the ugliest guys in N*Sync and I absolutely hated Like I Love You. But Cry Me a River is MUCH more rocky and covers his voice. So even if you did NOT like Like I Love You, check this one out!
