Book Description

September 2001
'Cry the Night' is a psychological thriller that is set in the harsh Australian wilderness, where young bushwalkers are stalked by pure evil.

The novel begins in the past, at a remote creek on the edge of the wilderness. The body of a murdered ten-year-old girl is found. The tragedy also envelopes the beautiful six-year-old sister, who has disappeared without trace.

The story shifts to the present, with four young men and one teenage girl deciding to explore the rugged ridges, valleys and caves in the vicinity of a large cattle property at which they are staying.

The bushwalkers unwittingly enter the territory which a psychopath believes to be his. In the heart of a hidden valley, they make an horrific discovery. Someone evil is among them. From then on they are engrossed in a struggle for survival. Each is forced to face their deepest fears. They are pitted against the extremely difficult terrain at night, as well as the relentless hunter.

'Cry the Night' takes the reader into a world of delusion and sexual darkness -- in a story that delves into the mysterious depths of insanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ!!!, November 13, 2001
By
This review is from: Cry the Night (Paperback)
Once I read the prologue, I was hooked. I felt truly sorry for the young girl, horrified that she was found dead in such a desolate place, alone. I couldn't help but feel that her last moments were indeed terrifying.

The story is primarily about a demented killer and those who have unwittingly found themselves in his territory. The madman has gruesomely murdered many people over the years, mainly young girls. Horrific events of the past are revealed. He is prepared to do anything to ensure the non-disclosure of his terrible secrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars A PAGE-TURNER!, November 14, 2001

Paul Kellerman (Odessa, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cry the Night (Hardcover)
Move aside Hannibal; this serial killer is about as crazy and ruthless as they come. At times he was so cruel it sent shivers up my spine. Yet there were moments when I actually felt sorry for him.

This is a compelling story which is definitely not for the faint-hearted: parts of it were very disturbing and may leave you with trouble sleeping at night. The author uses a smooth flowing style of writing, with lots of twists and turns in the plot. He has created uniquely individual characters, and there are some great descriptions of the Australian "bush". Murder mystery fans will enjoy this; you won't want to put it down until the final page has been read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A page turner! Very highly recommended, May 22, 2002
This review is from: Cry the Night (Paperback)
Deep in the unexplored wilderness of Australia lie twenty years of secrets protected by a madman. The murders began with a kidnapped child, her body left in a creek, and her sister's disappearance. As the his story unfolds, the killer's motives of ritualistic attempts to end the cruelties inflicted by his mother reveal a mind destroyed by madness, erased of a conscious, and filled with delusions and darkness.

Four young men and a teen girl will intrude on those dangerous secrets, turning a day's walk in the country into a dangerous journey into insanity. Their struggle for survival will force them to confront their deepest fears, and not all will escape the evil that stalks them. As night descends, a trip planned to last a day will challenge the bushwalkers beyond their wildest imaginings.

Author Glenn Miller utilizes his gift as an artist to bring his prose a bold vividness in CRY THE NIGHT. Written with extreme intensity, CRY THE NIGHT reveals the inside view of a mind destroyed by abuse and intent upon enacting its own revenge. Insanity and darkness walk the night, sharply contrasting the innocence and beauty of youth. The unexpected turns of the plot will keep readers hooked until the last mind-blowing page. Read CRY THE NIGHT with all the lights in the house on! Very highly recommended.
