Book Description

June 1974
Young Curtis Carson doesn't mean to rip off the Chicanos on his backyard crap games. He just rolls the dice better. But Chicanos don't see it that way, and when one of their brothers is brutally slaughtered in a barroom shootout because of Curtis' dealings with heroin pusher Fat George, the Mexicans cry revenge on Curtis, leaving his brother with a wrecked body that will forever prevent him form being the basketball star he'd always dreamed of being. Curtis swears vengeance, and the streets run red with black-Chicano warfare!

4.0 out of 5 stars Revenge is what was got, September 22, 2004

This book was revenge at its best. The ending made my stomach hurt, but the book is very good. You have to really pay attention, or you may get lost, because Goines has many characters doing all sorts of things during the story. There was a lot of hostility between the Blacks and Hispanics from the outset, and it escalated as the story moved forward. All in all, another piece by Goines which is off the hook.

5.0 out of 5 stars DONALD GOINES, December 14, 2009

Just when I thought I've read all of Donald Goines books, from back in the 70's I find this one on the book shelf at the library. Wow, this book was from way back in the days and it was one of Donald Goines best. The end was like, "Oh Hell Naw" but you got to read it to find out what happened at the end. This was another good book to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Revenge story with a twist ending, March 27, 2007
Goines brings us into the territory where tension between Chicanos and Blacks in a New Mexico ghetto runs deep. Don't be fooled by the cover because this is not a deep story about Chicano and Black racism towards each other. The story is ultimately a revenge tale set off by a single event. What follows is a bloody chain of events with a unique twist ending typical of a Goines novel. Probably the most original ending for a novel I have ever read. Not to spoil the ending, but it most likely fit more a horror novel than urban pulp fiction.

I have only read about three Goines books so far.[Whoreson,Daddy Cool, and Cry Revenge]. Of all the three this ranks as second with Daddy Cool being number 1 and impossible to top]
