5.0 out of 5 stars whats wrong with you people
I have to agree with robert somethin-something (another reviewer) on this one. People dont like it because its not what they expected. I expected it to be a slasheer movie (considering the commercials) but its not. Its not very scary either. but its STILL a really good movie. Most people need blood and gore to make a movie good (thats why everyone liked the alien movies)...

At first it was the advertisements that gave me an encouragement to go see this film. So I did. These advertisements were completely false. It opens up with a young girl running from an unknown killer leading her to her death. Ok..it does start off a little promising, but leading to scenery of bad acting, and useless dialogue. It was probably the worst movie I have seen...

Most people need blood and gore to make a movie good (thats why everyone liked the alien movies). And also everyone compares it to Scream. I will tell you the truth. Scream is the worst movie i have ever seen. This is not anything like Scream. Go to it not expecting a slasher movie, you'll probably like it better. The other thing i liked about this movie was that it kept you guessing. There were plot twists around every corner. The ending was a bit weak but I loved it anyways. Oh, and the first 5 minutes of the movie features a lady being chased in the woods and eventually gets shot.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this one. I like movies with lots of twists, and this had it's share. They weren't hard to follow or guess at, but i enjoyed the changing dynamic of the movie. If you enjoy thrillers with out the gore, you will probably enjoy this one. However, if you find it hard to follow plot twists and turns, this may be a little much for you, but don't worry, they spell it all out in the end.

It opens up with a young girl running from an unknown killer leading her to her death. Ok..it does start off a little promising, but leading to scenery of bad acting, and useless dialogue. It was probably the worst movie I have seen this year. It doesnt even come close to a scary movie. I have noticed how people have said that horror does not need violence to entertain, which I totaly agree with. But for god sake, it needs something. This has nothing. With one of the most rediculous, rubbish endings I have ever seen in a long time. Stay away from this pile of garbage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cry_Wolf has potential, September 19, 2005
I have to say that the overall feel of this film and the plot itself I liked. I will say though that the way it all fell together was a little weak. First off, Bon Jovi was a waste...should have left him out. Second, the acting, although bashed by the other reviewers is not that bad. The main kid and the girl that he's smitten with are both pretty decent actors. The plot is that these kids decide to scare the school by creating a killer on campus, the only problem is that people start dying in the exact way they predicted and they swear to god they have nothing to do with it. Now they are being hunted by a 'Wolf' that they created. They are the sheep. Get it? The ending I thought was a great twist, my only dissapointment was that the movie was not intence enough, not thrilling enough and the only person that screamed was my 12 year old brother-in-law...all in all a decent movie with great promise, just needed some tweeking, better editing and a few more thrills...it could have been better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cry Wolf is different from most slasher flicks., September 24, 2005
A Kid's Review
First off, these are the things I want to mention:

1. This one goes to LASTLY VON FURST. This is what makes me mad. This movie is not supposed to be about blood and gore, it's supposed to be clever and smart, which it is.

2. Do not compare this to SCREAM. That's another thing that makes me angry. SCREAM is one of the more known teen slashers that are the most liked, but people hate other slasher movies, cause they say it's not scary like Scream. Scream insults the horror genre!

Moving on, Cry Wolf is a twist and turn movie, guessing who's the wolf. Who is the liar and who's telling the truth. The movie has a low body count. When you watch the movie from beginning to the middle, it looks like it has a good enough body count, until the end, where you finds out how much the body count is. It is a good movie -- don't expect this to be a SCREAM or I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, cause the movie is supposed to trick you.

It's a good movie, but it lack some qualities that horror fans will be disapointed on:

1. Horror/Gore

2. Blood

It's a good movie to watch, and when I watched it, I was kind of disapointed, but it's okay.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great first attempt by someone new to the movie scene, September 22, 2005

While I was one of the two oldest people in the theater (my friend being the other), I actually really enjoyed this movie BECAUSE it is a scary movie that I would be okay taking my twelve-year-old brother to see. If this was meant to cater to twenty-somethings, I might have been disappointed, but it's supposed to be for teenagers so I pretty much knew what to expect upon entering (not quite sure why others seem surprised). The camera work was fantastic, acting was pretty good (especially the kid that played Owen) if perhaps a little over-done at times, and the story line had a few twists. I will take my little brother to see this and be comfortable, and he will love it (as did the other teens in the theater). Not bad for a first-timer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Like Something Straight Out Of The 90's..., September 19, 2005
It's funny how we're already in 2005. Hard to believe. As someone who grew up in the 90's, it's bizarre to think that era has passed. But a lot has changed since the 90's, and one of those things is the horror genre. In the 90's, horror was easily at it's weakest. The only dominating force was "Scream" and it's hordes of clones. These days, however, horror tends to go in two directions: Either it's brutal and gets a hard "R," or it has a crappy ghost coming out of a TV, is remade about twenty times, and given a PG-13. "Cry_Wolf" is a film that calls back to the slasher films of the late 90's. In other words, it's a "Scream"-esque who-dunnit with a low body count (I think the lowest ever for a horror movie) and virtually no gore. Oh yeah, and it's rated PG-13.

The story revolves around a group of overpriviledged teens at a private school who are so bored with life that they play bizarre games with each other. Growing tired of the same old game, they invent a new one, one that will involve everyone at their school. Following the mysterious death of a local girl, they conjure up a myth about a serial killer on the loose and convince their fellow students that they are next in line. It's all fun and games until certain friends pop up missing, sound suspicious, or are seemingly being stalked. There are plenty of twists and turns and it's hard to see what's coming next, which is surprising for a movie of such a seemingly shallow nature. The acting isn't too bad, but there just isn't much to work with outside of the story. The dialogue isn't too sharp, the gore is almost non-existent, and the overall film looks pedestrian. If not for the surprise twists, I probably would have walked out after getting halfway through it. I can't really tell you what happens throughout the movie, as it will ruin what enjoyment you'll get out of it. But, if you need incentive to watch, just know that there is violence committed against Jon Bon Jovi.
