We hung these along the inside wall of our screen tent for camping running from corner to corner. The string of them just spanned our 12 ft tent wall. They are quite bright for their size and weight. The light bulbs are about the size of a large grape. They came in a card board box and I packed them into a small stuff sack. They fold to about the size of two packs of cards. They were brighter than I expected, and as bright as I hoped. It is not the light you would need to read by but we found that two of them gave our kitchen tent a nice ambiance and allowed us to use task lighting (e.g. the lantern) when we needed more light. It was plenty of light to sit and talk or do simple tasks. I was very happy with the price and the product.
April 2012 comment. One reviewer noted that the blinking function on the lights would give one a migraine. I agree with the reviewer that the blinking functions are truly obnoxious. We set our to the constant on and have not changed them.

I was not able to open the case in order to put the batteries in. Nobody in the family was able to. Then a neighbour was able to do it after many efforts. The same to change them. DECORATE SHOULD BE FUN!!!!
