Apologies & corrections from the Author,
By Deborah Chester (dchester@ou.edu) (Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Crystal Eye (LucasFilm's Alien Chronicles, Book 3) (Paperback)
Hello to readers. My face is red. In my last note, I mentioned an upcoming fantasy novel that will be published by Ace in February 2000. Sorry to say I got the titles mixed up and out of order. The trilogy is called THE SWORD, THE RING, AND THE CHALICE. The first book out will be entitled THE SWORD. Again, my apologies to everyone for the mixup. Let's blame it on the fact that I'm busy writing at present and getting absent-minded as well. Also, for those of you who really loved the Ampris adventures, you might want to check out some of my older sf titles, written under the pseudonym Sean Dalton. Happy reading!

CALLLING GEORGE LUCAS!,
By Dale (RUU113) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Crystal Eye (LucasFilm's Alien Chronicles, Book 3) (Paperback)
If you're like me you can so clearly imagine this being a movie. You can almost hear the music..and imagine the violent actions scenes of the arena...and ampris` annoying children.....You can see Ampris' expressive features and Israi's luxurios clothing and her incredible rill reddening behind her evil head. The enivronments would be exotic and inspiring and you could not help but be enraptured into this massive trilogy that makes you just want more and MORE! C'mon everyone we have to be like Ampris, lets make George Lucas get these books to the screen..lets start an 'Ampris Network'! I'll be opening a web page soon any contributions will be welcome.. Tell your friends about the books..let them read them and love them as much as you do..spread the word!

Incredible Trilogy,
By FlyingHamster (Louisville, KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Crystal Eye (LucasFilm's Alien Chronicles, Book 3) (Paperback)
Well, I have to say that I'm a very picky reader. I really don't like too much. Most books, even science fiction, are either boring, or just average. But I was stunned by this incredible trilogy. It weaved an extraordinary tale and the last installment was the best in my opinion. It's the tale of a struggle for freedom and the fight for the truth. This trilogy is spellbounding, and I recommend that everyone read it. Yes, I mean you too. Read it. Now.

I can't tell you how good these books are! I'm not really into the trilogy thing, when I read a book, I'm bored with that plot and want to move on to something different, so I really wasn't too interested in starting these books, but after 2 chapters, no one could keep me away from them! From birth to death, you're there with Ampris. So if you have or even if you haven't read the first two, READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!

Crystal Eye = Crystal Perfect.,

This review is from: The Crystal Eye (LucasFilm's Alien Chronicles, Book 3) (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. Ampries and her clan, after living illegally on the outskirts of the Viis world for some time, realize that the Viis have polluted the world so much that the wilderness can no longer sustain them. While trying to find a new place to live Ampries stumbles back into Viis library where she finally finds out the truth behind the enslaving of her kind. She becomes a revolutionary again, this time sacrificing everything to finally destroy the corrupted Viis. This book is based on a world far from our own that is inhabited by various species of animal-like beings. They are all enslaved by the once majestic and powerful Viis, rulers of a multi-complex of galaxies. The Viis are now corrupted and so used to slave labor that they are inept. The third one in the series in my opinion is by far the best. The 1st one, the Golden One, is some-what boring and basically gets the reader used to the world and its problems. The second book, the Crimson Claw, has much more action as Ampries is forced to fight as a gladiator. She also tries to get a secret organization to rise up against the Viis, but this gets her into trouble and basically sets the story up for the third book. Both books were good, but the third book can be read by itself and the reader would be completely satisfied with out knowing about all of the information given in the first two books. Don't get me wrong; I would much rather read the Golden One and the Crimson Claw than many other books that I have read in my time. The Crystal Eye is so flawless that it overshadows the rest of the series.

I really enjoy hearing from all you readers out there, including youngest fans, second-youngest fans, old fans, older fans, oldest fans, etc. Thanks for letting me know what you think about these adventures of Ampris and Elrabin. I've really enjoyed writing about these characters. My next book will be a fantasy called THE RING. It'll be published in February 2000.

I am the self-aclaimed youngest fan of Deborah Chesters! At 13 I've just recently finished the Alien Chronicles Trilogy. The ending was extremly powerful. And wrote in such a way that other authors should learn from it. This trilogy didn't capture my attention at first. I picked up the first book repeatly, but never bought it. Untill one day...Then I was hooked. I soon found the second book and finished it in under 2 days! This was certainly a wonderful trilogy, and I wondered as I digested the ending...Did you get any of these parts from the story of Moses? The small similarities are amazing... 1. The pharoah swept up and killed in a collapsed wave. And Israi killed in a collasped jumpgate. 2. Moses only seeing the promised land once. Ampris only seeing it once. 3. Moses died on a hill overlooking the promised land. Ampris was buried on a hill overlooking the landing spot... Coincidence only? This was certainly as great and well written series! And I await hopefully for a sequel. Maybe telling about Foloth and Nashmarl and their maturity. Or anthor reincarnation of Nithlived? Another threat from the Viis? Or humans? The possibities are endless, and if Deborah reads this I sure hope she choices one and makes a sequal!

I really enjoyed this book! I bought the first one because the plot sounded interesting but then I was hooked. Although The Crimson Claw was my favorite, I think that the Crystal Eye is an equal to the other two. I'm not a sentimental person and I almost never cry over movies or books, but this book made me cry! Ampris is my favorite character in any book I've ever read. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of science fiction books.

I just finished reading the entire trilogy, and I must say I really enjoyed it. It was some of the best SF I've read in a long time. It had a very interesting story and it was neat to watch Ampris and Elrabin grow and change throughout the course of their lives. So much of the story seems like the story of Moses from the Bible, which is interesting. Another thing I liked about this book / trilogy is that it is clean, with no cussing or sex scenes. Some of the fighting was pretty cool. It's a very good book! I'll definitely be looking for more of Deborah Chester's work.
