5.0 out of 5 stars Loving it!, December 16, 2008
By
This review is from: Crystal Quest Reverse Osmosis-ULTIMATE (Misc.)
We have a neighbor moved in a few months ago. They have installed the GE reverse osmosis under their sink from home depot about $280 plus tax. We tried their water and loved it. That's when we started to research on reverse osmosis. We did not like GE, because the filters has to be changed every 6 months, and performance is only 92% at best, and can go down to 75%.

We chose the model from [...] because of the ultrafiltration before RO filtration and one between the tank and faucet. We like the stainless prefilter too. Because we had old iron pipes, we chose the iron removal option. Our neighbor told us that their water became stale after a few days of non-use (gone for vacation), all they had to do is to open the faucet, let the whole tank of water drain, and fresh water to generate.

So far for the last two months, we do not have any problems with ours. But we probably will flush the system periodically too. We have a handy man came to install the unit under the sink for us. He followed instructions and checked every joints for proper alignment, used bypass the tank first to flush out the food preservatives from the RO membrane, and flush out the first 2 tanks of water generated.

Before, we buy bottled water from water mart about 10 miles away. For cooking and coffee, we used Dupont faucet mount filter as well as Brita filter pitcher. But still, calcium deposit built up in our coffee maker reservoir.

Now, the water tasted so fresh and clean, we stopped buying bottled water. Our coffee maker reservoir is sparkling clean. We used filtered water a lot more for cooking, boiling eggs and rinsing vegetable. We're loving it.

For filter change, so far we don't have to do it yet. Eventually, when the whole set change is needed, we may buy it from [...]
If only prefilter change is needed, we probably buy it from Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Quiet, so different from my old GE Merlin, February 27, 2009

My old GE Merlin Reverse Osmois was disconnected after struggling with it for more than one year. The noise is totally unbearable.

So, I'm very specific that the system has to be very quiet. And, I'm not disappointed. I upgrade the system to 100 GPD, and have a 5 gallon water dispenser to store water in case the unit storage tank ran out. But, water is replenished very quickly, I never have a problem of running out.

In fact, when I drain the tank during installation, I stop draining after 1 hour. Water never really run out.

Water tastes better. And, I do not have to change any filter in 12-18 months. I like that as compared with 6 months in the merlin.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm glad I upgrade from Brita Pitchers!, January 3, 2009
This review is from: Crystal Quest Reverse Osmosis-ULTIMATE (Misc.)
It's so much more convenient to have filtered water coming out right from the faucet.

As there is a pre-drilled hole on my marble top,my husband decided to have a go to install the unit himself, otherwise, we may have hired someone to do the job. It took him about 4 hours. First read the instructions. Turn off water supply, electricity, then position the filter stack and storage tank. Then connect water supply, drain and faucet, checking joints are tightened properly.

Instructions could be a little clearer though.

We like the deionization filter, as water is very hard in our area. We see calcium built up around our faucets except this new filtered water faucet, of course.
