This combo fly and spinning rod and reel is a great value for the money. The convenient container makes it easy to store the rod sections and two reels in one easily accessible location. The fly rod is too short and the spinning rod is too flexible (same rod), but when one considers that the same rod can be used for both applications, this is a fantastic deal. The fly reel is small, but easily holds a regular fly line (not included but easily purchased), and the spinning reel has a smooth retrieve and holds plenty of line (also not included) if you are using light test (4 to 6 pound test) line. Overall, this is a great deal for those just starting to fish, or those who want quick access to both a fly and spinning rod and reel with great travel convenience.

Nice fishing gear for traveling. Packs into a nice small case so I can leave it in the car or truck always ready to go. Reels not great quality, but I bought it for the fishing combo spin / fly rod any way, I have quality reels already. I found that as a fly rod it casts better with a #6wt. than the recomended #5wt. Also it could use 1 or 2 more sections for fly casting configuration, it seems a little short @ 7'. Also could use a section in the pack for lures, tippet & flies, etc. but there is room in the nice foam padding to cut in a small tackle / fly box. Overall a nice setup for having fishing gear at the ready wherever I am so I like this product.

The travel pack came with all that was advertised; convertable pole, 2 reels. The spinning reel was nice and smooth. Never tried the fly reel.
Pole is very , very light weight. It lasted about 4 days. On the 5th day it snapped. Easily repaired. I was using 2oz spoon. Probably shouid have used 1oz and under. I bought two kits and will keep the second one just in case.

Adirondacks/ Raquette River trip. The bumping and banging of backpacking/canoe river trips are tough on fishing gear. Especially fly rods. This set is an excellent combination of both spinning rod and fly rod in a lightweight protective case. The 7 foot rod could have been 1 segment longer but the action was sensitive enough for dry flys. The brown trout were hitting the flys above the falls and the smallmouth bass were hitting the lures below the falls - who could ask for anything more! The spinning reel had plenty of room with 10lb test. I'd recommend this kit for anyone traveling or looking for a lightweight combination when backpacking. I'd also like to suggest the package come with two tips so if one breaks while traveling/ camping you don't lose use of the rod. The foam packing and the handy case make attachment to a backpack easy; this kit also fits well in the trunk of my car. So many streams.....so little time.

This is an amazing product ! Takes very little space, can be reverted to fly rod, excellent !

Only minus is length of the rod, which could benefit of another 2 segments.

This package never leaves my car, and is always "ready to go", so when I see a nice river and have 30 mins, i take any opportunity !

Took this backpacking. Was really nice because it was compact. My son got one of these a few years back and for the most part no problems. On mine, the 2nd time I pulled it out to fish, the end of the rod broke off. All I did was lift it out of the container. I didn't force it or twist it. To make it work, I broke the rod off the rest of the way down to the next eye. I was shocked at how easy it broke. It crumbled like dust. I wonder if I just got a defective one.

Lots of stuff for the money if you buy the version that comes with line, but the rod broke way, WAY too easily. Not good for fish over 12 inches / 1lb or so IMO. Not bad for pan sized trout in the backcountry though...

Tip of the rod snapped off on the first outing... I was throwing a fly, it wasn't exactly like I was fighting with a 20lb carp. Very disappointed.

Excellent product for the price,sure will make backpacking into lakes easier Seems like the rod has a good action for small lures.
