From the Inside Flap

Praise for David DeLee and the Grace deHaviland Bounty Hunter series
"This high-action trilogy features Grace deHaviland, a former member of the police force who has turned bounty hunter/skip tracer in Ohio. A masterful collection of three novellas, this offering takes the reader through some truly harrowing cases with Grace and her friend, Suzie Jensen, a sheriff's deputy. ...readers will find themselves engaged with each and every one as they explore the dangerous job of bounty hunting. Grace is definitely one tough chick that readers will always remember." -- SUSPENSE MAGAZINE

"DeLee's...highly qualified to write this first novel in the Grace deHaviland Bounty Hunter series. His plot twists and turns will put you on the edge and have you speed reading to keep up. Just when you think you get it...think again! DeLee's own special brand of storytelling will have you wanting more of this excellent series and more of Grace deHaviland as well." -- Suspense Magazine

"...taut and dangerous...Mr. DeLee has proven that he can compete with the best of them in the crime thriller genre." -- WebbWeaver

"This mystery story is original and interesting, with a fascinating point of view character...and even though [DeLee's] playing in that familiar (mystery) world, he still managed to pull off a story that caught me by surprise. Wonderful stuff."  --Kristine Kathryn Rusch

"David DeLee...captures...Columbus, Ohio, perfectly in this story about a wealthy but streetwise rapper who may be at the end of his game." --Joe Hartlaub,
"DeLee...implements realistic dialogue and the right amount of description while pulling the reader into his well-told story." --Lee Carey, Author of The Thin Line
"David DeLee really packs a lot of action, humor, and twists and turns into this digital short. I enjoyed [Grace deHaviland's] moxie and spunk and look forward to reading about her further exploits."  --Giovanni Gelati,

"Although "Fatal Tryst" is primarily an action-oriented crime fiction, the social commentary is timely and the message flows seamlessly through the narrative...The characters are fully developed, the setting descriptions very nicely done, and the plot moves quickly. I will be looking for more Grace deHaviland stories."  --Donna White Glaser, Author of The Enemy We Know

Reading "Crystal White" was a pleasant introduction to this author's repertoire. I accidently stumbled on a promotion some time ago and I thank the author for providing a highly captivating story that entertained me for hours. Needless to say Mr. DeLee has won my heart and I will definitely read more of his work in future.

The reader is thrust into the plot right from the start as we shadow Special Agent Nick Lafferty leading a task force on a dangerous drug raid. With a mix of technical jargon in the narrative we follow his team as they try to bring down the notorious drug lord kingpin, Ruben Nazario.

During the final stage of the raid Nick gets a call from his wife, he agrees to call her back when he has a free moment. Nick's wife and daughter are waiting for him on his boat in San Diego harbor and when he calls back he unknowingly triggers a device instantly killing his wife and child.

It doesn't take long for Nick to realise it was a set up and his emotions take control of him leaving the force with no alternative but to give Nick time to grief and get his life back on track. However while on compassion leave his only focus is on avenging his loss at any cost.

To compound his grief, Nick is called back to his roots in New York to settle his father's estate. There he reconnects with a former partner Del Harley and learns Ruben Nazario's drug "Crystal White" has spread to the east coast. They agree to pool their efforts and we are reeled back into another exciting hunt with no shortage of action and excitement.

"Crystal White" is a well-written novel that provides a captivating adventure into the crime detective world. The characters are down to earth and quite credible. The plotting is well paced with enough down time to savour the intimate moments and get ready for the next element of surprise. The suspense was quite satisfying and kept me guessing till the very last page.

This novel was exceptional. The description of the location where the novel takes place was accurate and exceptional. I would classify as thriller. I read mostly romance, and human drama. The author incorporated enough characterization and human drama to keep even the most skeptical reader involved. I could not put it down. The novel kept me intrigued the whole time. I look forward to more about these characters. I liked the personal dram involved as well as the mystery. Great work by the author keep it up. Looking forward to more in this location as well.

DeLee has knocked this one out of the park. Using realistic characters with spot on dialogue and plot, DeLee produces another page-turner. The premise of this novel falls nicely into today's news concerning illegal/killer drugs and the heartless workings behind them. The two main characters fill the bill in many tension-filled ways to put an end to this deadly business. The reader will quickly find themselves immersed into this story and pulling for Lafferty to succeed. DeLee ties several stories concerning himself and his ex-partner, Del, to fuel, and at times to hinder, their desire to 'take out' the bad guys.
I enjoyed the ending and how Lafferty showed compassion, along with a slice of sweet justice. DeLee perfectly tied up the loose ends on a positive note. I see a sequel in the future.
DeLee's style, pace, and descriptions are excellent. I highly recommend DeLee to anyone who enjoys well-written crime novels. I consider DeLee to be one of today's best authors. "Nice work, David. Keep smilin'..."
