So I downloaded the free preview of this one and was disappointed to find that the preview was the exact same as the blurb in the description. Afterward, I googled the title/author to find out what the piece was about. I was expecting it to be a spoof advertisement or a self-help manual. Either way, it sounded quite amusing.
However, I was surprised to find that the blurb is actually the beginning of the story, a fairly amusing story. There are two major problems with this piece though; its length (just over 2000 words) doesn't warrant its price. It's unfortunate that amazon has not yet introduced a useful way of describing the length of its ebooks. They need to develop I human-recognizable standard, but I digress. The most important flaw of this story is that it is AVAILABLE FOR FREE on the author's BLOG. It was a pretty darn good story, good enough to go in a strong anthology. It's just not worth 99 cents, not by length, and certainly not in light of the fact that the text itself is the second result on google if you search the phrase "cthul-you". |
