JAGUARES WITHOUT QUESTION!,

This review is from: Cuando La Sangre Galopa (Audio CD)
The first thing I have to say is WOW! This is a great album. From the days of Caifanes and up to today as Jagures, they have not stopped leaving me in amazement. Very few bands have achieved the genuine feel of Jaguares, this album is proof. The first Jaguares album (El Equilibrio) was wonderful, "Bajo el Azul" was somewhat experimental, a softer side I still enjoyed (especially the live CD), and "Cuando La Sangre Galopa" is just a knockout punch! The first single, "Como Tu", is only a small portion of what this album is about. The hidden song is great too (go to minute 8:45 of Track 13). Most of the other songs are hard rock Jaguares style (reminds of the days of "El Nervio del Volcan" when they were Caifanes). I've listen to the whole album over a thousand times by now, it still sounds as good as the first time. Enjoy, y que viva el ROCK en Español!

Un discazo!,
By Mario (San Jose, Costa Rica) - See all my reviews

Beautiful,

This was the first Jaguares CD I bought and I have to say that I'm not in the least bit disappointed. The lyrics are beautiful and soulful - real poetry. I can listen to this entire CD through without skipping any tracks and I think that really says a lot for the band. I saw them live last night at the TLA in Philadelphia and they put on a helluva show. So much energy, so much talent, simply fantastic. If you ever get a chance, see them live. They work with the crowd instead of a lot of bands who distance themselves from the very people whom they should be trying to connect with. But yes, this CD is well worth the buying. Even if you don't speak a single word of Spanish, get it. The music alone is a good enough reason. You won't regret it.

I actually got this album a few days prior to its release date. After a disappointing effort in "Bajo El Azul De Tu Misterio" I wasn't really sure what to expect from Jaguares, but i was optimistic about this album. The first single, "Como Tu", is a good catchy song that will surely get much airplay on the radio waves. But when i heard the entire album, "Cuando La Sangre Galopa", for the first time i must admit i was pleasantly surprised. Right away i thought that this album took off right where "El Equilibrio De Los Jaguares" left off.The first track, "Cuando La Sangre Galopa", is a hard rocker that features a very catchy riff. But the song that blew me away and in my opinion is the best song in this album is "La Vida No Es Igual" (actually sounds like it came from "El Silencio" or "El Equilibrio"). The final track, "Viejo El Mundo?", is a lengthy one because it features a bonus track! This album features dark folkish sounds which remind me of "El Silencio" and "El Equilibrio". As usual, Saul Hernandez & Co came up with great lyrics to go along with the music. Other notable tracks include: "Contigo", "Por Un Beso", "Estoy Cansado" & "Como Tu". Overall this is a very good album and is far superior to "Bajo El Azul.." but not quite as solid as "El Equilibrio". Though I feel this album is lacking something, it is still a good one!

... (music to think),
By "ernesto199" (Florida) - See all my reviews

What else to say about this true musical jewel. Saul Hernandez, now a seasoned spanish rock musician, producer, and lyricist has struck, yet again, a particularly pleasant mixture of his native mexico's sounds with a deep rock'n'roll sensitivity. Although the title track is of good enough quality, it is certainly not the cuspid of the album (a little rythmically repetitive at times). "El Secreto" I think is one of the album hidden great rock'n'roll treasures. A base line that nails the message on the head about a nagging secret passion ("your secret"). Estoy Cansado is pregnant with deeper layers of meaning (I'm tired, ... of the world's stupid misery, of the foolishness of my days, of my "death indiffirent" country) as Saul begs: "Liberate me ... from this sphere, I don't know it, from this poisonous time, it's not mine). Killer Lyrics. Most reviewers agree: "La Vida no es Igual" is probably the best composition of the set. I whole heartedly agree. Saul & Co top quality musical composition is demonstrated by the exquisite combination of percusion rich rythms with a poignant mexican violin (a staple of mexican traditional music) which gives excellent flow to the song, together with harps and guitarron, part of the traditional veracruz music instruments, excellently introduced... And the lyrics -- " beautiful is to live when there's sand under your feet, but when you're walking on glass .. life is not the same". Perhaps an allusion to Saul's hospital days. To anyone who considers a serious incursion into latin rock'n'roll: This CD is a must.

it lacks something,
By Juan OlveraJr (Orlando, fl United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cuando La Sangre Galopa (Audio CD)
I liked the cd. But like another reviewer said " it lacked something" and it did. It misses something. I think it must be the way it was produced. It is a bit commercial. First because there is nothing new that takes the band outthere that sets them apart from teh rest. I mean,,hear something like quisiera ser alchol. In that song they expiremented with jazz in a very original way. In this album there is nothing that you havent heard in rock except for "nada es igual".Jaguares said it would be a much dirtier album. I dont think it is. Actually it was to commercially produced. Because it lacks somthing i give it 3 stars. But it is worth to have in collection.

Just amazing...,

This is an excelent album... it really rocks. I disagree with the two previous comments. Jaguares is not an experimental type of band like Cafe Tacuba... however, Jaguares have always put their vanguardist/original touch. The only commercial song I think it is 'Como tu'... but the rest of the album is incredible good. Let's give them credit. Jaguares is the only true Spanish rock band alive (RIP Soda Stereo and Heroes del Silencio)

Best latin rock album ever ... bow down to Saul & the boys!,

This review is from: Cuando La Sangre Galopa (Audio CD)
I think in this album Saul Hernández not only claims the almighty poet title, but also shows the world the simplicity of feelings trough songs,a concept lost in the early 90's when the scene started to crumble by "label made" artist.songs like the mind trip "Libérame" and the tropical/punk "La vida no es igual" make this album a real experience,If you like the "rocanról latino" scene buy this album right away, I'm sure it'll blow your brains out!... if you're not, this is the best album to start your collection with.
