This book is about all I have ever wanted to express about my Cuban-American life. Every single sentiment one feels about being in exile, loving the American way of life, but missing our motherland daily and never forgetting where one comes from.

It is the first time that the feelings of the Cuban-American Community, be it young or old, have been expressed in diverse sentiments, encompassing Cubans who arrived into exile in 1959 to the present time. This book reveals that despite the fact that 44 years have passed, Cubans still have deep roots and warm remembrances of the land they were born in. Cuba Mia will be cherished by those who read it and will pass it on to their kin.

Cuba Mía is an extraordinary glimpse at a community often misunderstood. Well over two hundred prominent Cubans express their innermost feelings for an island lost in distance and time, but firmly embedded in their memories and their hearts. Cuba is a magnet to which they willingly cling. Their hearts have been branded. Their minds hypnotized by the cool caribbean breeze and the rustle of the majestic palm trees. They left, but the yearning stayed as a constant reminder that they were uprooted by a revolution that devastated their island but not their willingness to succeed. Never before has anyone captured
hidden feelings, which fluttered like butterflies in spring once a simple question was asked: What does Cuba mean to you?
In responding, souls unveiled. Cuba Mía is mesmerizing at times, heartbreaking at others. It is no doubt, an extremely humane portrait of Cuban Americans. It is a book to be handed down from generation to generation, after you fill in the blank page that awaits for your answer.
