Tito and Celia's 1st album together!,

Just listen to the first track! Puente's band is like a dynamo. His big band seemed to be augmented with extra percussionists for this hot date. Celia is in top form here and she handles the different styles and rhythms thrown at her very well.
Although very different from her later sessions with Johnny Pacheco in the 70's, these sessions are essential listening for fans of Celia and Puente's big band sound. Very well recorded. This reissue has great liner notes and good remastered sound.

Celia Cruz and Tito Puente at their best,

This is by far my favorite Celia Cruz/Tito Puente collaboration. I still have a special place in my heart for their Tribute to Beny More, but this album just crackles with energy. Some would say that Celia's voice only aged like fine wine, but I don't think she ever sounded better than she did in this period and Tito Puente, moreso than anyone she ever worked with other than Ray Barretto, always brought out the best in her. Fania's new remastering is top notch and the sound has not dated one bit -- I can only hope they see fit to put out a few of their now unavailable collaborations (like In Spain).
