Well-known Cuban tunes but the album has a modern sound - this may be because the musicians are younger than is the norm for players of this type of classic son. The songs are standards but Asere's interpretation is not at all staid. "Cubansoul" turns out to be a fitting title for this disc. A fantastic album that you won't be disappointed in.

Asere do not re has the same old arrangemente of traditional Cuban Son. They are more interested in writing new and modern arrangements but with the traditional sound of a Cuban Septeto. If you like the sound of Son but are looking for something a bit more modern buy this record which really brings Cuban Son into the 21 century.

This group of Cuban youngbloods have wisely chosen to keep the tradition of the Cuban Son alive and not come out with another Timba crap CD. This is pure Cuban Son, with a very contemporary/modern feel. AWESOME.

The singers as well as the players are FIRST CLASS AAA!!!!!!!!

El septeto "Asere con su albun "Cuban Soul" es una muestra de que aun el son sigue vigente en Cuba y aun mas,que la nueva generacion ama y respeta esta musica.La variedad de generos como,changui,cha cha cha,guajira,son ect.,hacen de este disco una muestra feaciente de las raices cubanas.Los arreglos no pierden la identidad de cada genero apesar de que en ellos va un toque contemporanio.El timbre del cantante se adecua a la agrupacion y las interpretaciones nos reafirman su conviccion de sonero.El trecero pone punto final dando muestra de su virtuosismo y conosimiento de su instrumento.No cabe duda de que este disco es Son al Rojo Vivo.Felicidades "Asere"y estamos esperando el proximo.

It's a shame more people don't know about Asere-- they display the musicianship that Cuba is known for and a sense of swing and groove that makes them extra special. This album is a treat for those who love son cubano and even ny "classic" salsa lovers will dig this. Get this disc.
