I've watched all three of the Cube movies (lucky me, eh?). Cube is a Canadian psychological thriller horror film series. The three films, CUBE, CUBE-2-HYPERCUBE, and CUBE ZERO, were directed by Vincenzo Natali, Andrzej Sekuła, and Ernie Barbarash, respectively. And you can see the differences.

While CUBE was released first in 1997 followed by HYPERCUBE in 2002, CUBE ZERO, the last released in 2004, is actually the first in the series as it is a prequel to CUBE. Each movie IS different, particularly CUBE ZERO, in which we get to see those running the cube. However, CUBE ZERO is, by far, the worst of the three. But back to this review of HYPERCUBE....

The "rooms" in the Hyper Cube are different than the other two movies. Quite different. The appears to be a hint of intelligence with HYPER CUBE that was lacking in the others. This movie HAD potential. However, the writers did only a fair job with helping us understand the concept and rationale behind the cube in Hyper Cube. As usual, the acing was sub-par at best.

There was an alternate ending filmed for Hyper Cube, but I don't believe it was released. That's a shame because the alternate ending seemed a bit more clever than what we see in this one.

As far as horror/scary/bloody movies, CUBE wins. But for sci-fi meets quantum chaos math & physics, HYPER CUBE comes through, albeit slightly, in an ATTEMPT to have a real story behind it.

The first one is better ! The acting in this one is ridiculous and the story line weak ! Don't buy it !
