4.0 out of 5 stars A good ALTERNATIVE

3.0 out of 5 stars ....less money....low quality
not ever low money is low quality, but in this case the control is more big and the keys are hard to press. I buy this control, is good but not perfect, i prefer the original control more precise and easy for use.

if you can buy the original control, buy it.

I have 3 month with the control and it don't broke.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good ALTERNATIVE, January 7, 2002

I recently bought this controller while trying to find an extra controller for the Super Smash Bros Melee matches. At first I hesitated because of the fact that it was a 3rd party controller but I was not disappointed as much as I thought I'd be. Though probably not as good quality as the official one, it's a great alternative with its cheap price tag.

Here are the good things about this controller. It has larger handles with rubber grips for larger hands. The D-pad has been enlarged making it useful for games such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, so you don't have to use that very tiny D-pad on the official one. The Z-button to me seems easier to "press" making it easier to perform actions for the Z-button. Everything else is pretty much identical to the official controller, such as the C-stick and the L and R shoulder buttons. A new button symmetrical to the Z-button is added, which is the R-button. The macro function is useful for programming the buttons around, useful for fighting games. The cable is eight feet, being about 1.5 feet longer than the official controller. And as always, it has the same vibration as the official controller.

Now the bad news. The A-button seems to press in too much, making tapping the A-button continuously rather awkward. The worst problem of all is probably the analog joy-stick. As what I expected, it really wasn't sensitive as the official one. For example, while playing Super Monkey Ball, you have to move the joystick a little more than the official controller to just turn that monkey right. Though you probably won't notice it in games that don't need this much precision, games like Super Monkey Ball and perhaps other games that may come out that may need this exact precision will suffer from this joy-stick. Ohh the pain. Of course, if you could, just use an official controller that comes with the Gamecube box to play Super Monkey Ball.

Overall, like I said in the beginning, it's a great alternative. I'm guessing you may be reading this just to ask yourself "I need one more controller for those multi-player matches, but I don't want to get that costy first-party controller." Well if you are asking that, I highly suggest you get this one. Though your friend using that controller may whine a lot, get some trusty ear-plugs. Just don't expect any miracles from this controller to make it better than the first-party controller. Remember, this controller is a good ALTERNATIVE. Don't go running to the (put store here) and buying four of these assuming that they'll act as a good substitute for the first-party controllers.

4.0 out of 5 stars this is the best controler, November 28, 2001

this is one of the most convertable controlers out on the market. it fits perfectly with your hand and it won't slip out of your hands because of the rubber on the sides of the handles. i think if you have the gamecube, buy this controler.

When i first got this controller for christmas it worked fine until it broke down about a month later. This controller [stinks] because you can't relie on it to work. I've had a lot of things from mad katz, and they never work propally. My advice to you is save your money and buy a nintendo brand.

I bought this and in less than a month, Mine broke too. Two of them. Really, it's like they're made out of toothpicks. One even kept shutting off my gamecube. Unless 5 hours of tech support is what fun to you, go with the stock controller.

The picture from above makes the controller a little ugly, but the grips are great and the macro button lets you program move sequences and use them with a single button! Great, A must have.

1.0 out of 5 stars ................................................It sucks, December 1, 2003
This review is from: Cubicon Game Pad- Smoke (Video Game)
THIS THING SUCKS. I got it on the Christmas of 2001 the year that Gamecube was released (which i also got :D). But i have 2 say only my sister liked it. I had the basic controller and this one. After the 2nd week of havin this piece of CRAP, my friend comes over who has THEE GENTLEST HANDS, moved around the joystick and it got stuck and loose. i didnt think that was a big deal at first but then the Z button got jammed then A, B, Y,L and R! THe remaining ones were useless and we were playing SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE! This thing just sucks. Dont buy it. At all. DOnt even touch it. DONT EVEN FU**IN look at it man!

Pros: You nuts?! NONE!

Cons:ALL OF THE ABOVE. (2 chunky of a controller)

Id also like 2 point out that YALL CUBICON CONTROLLER MAKERS SUCK

No offense 2 any ppl that have huge hands that need this sort of controller (but plz try another brand of controller!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper = better? I think not!!, April 4, 2003
By
This review is from: Cubicon Game Pad- Smoke (Video Game)
This product is ok if you want to go with something very cheap. It works just as well as the regular nintendo controllers but I personally prefer the controllers nintendo makes.

The controller is much larger which makes it harder to press the buttons you need to get to. There is an extra z button on the other side which they named m which i have no clue what it is used for. The grips on the side of the controller make it very uncomfortable to hold and for you serious gamers might give you blisters.

The only thing that might be good about this controller is that it has about an extra foot of cord.

If i were you i would spend the 5 extra bucks to but the controller nintendo makes. You will indeed be much happier with your purchase
