About the Author

Jim Langford is a longtime Chicago Cubs fan, historian, and writer. He is the author of five sports books--The Game is Never Over: An Appreciative History of the Chicago Cubs; The Cub Fan's Guide to Life; Runs, Hits, & Errors: A Treasury of Cub History and Humor; Rookie: The Story of a Season, and the Cub Fan's Little Book of Wisdom. In addition, he is the author of Galileo, Science, and the Church; and Happy Are They: Living the Beatitudes in America.

In August of 1999, Langford stepped down from his position as director of the University of Notre Dame Press after 25 years in order to devote more time to There Are Children Here, a camp for at-risk children which he founded in 1994.

Langford and his family reside in Lakeville, Indiana.
