4.0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Fun But....
This is a delightful read for Cubs Fans. (I happen to be one living in exile in New Jersey!) It offers comfort for Cubbie fans woven with good day to day advice for living in general. I do have two beefs with the author though. A) He suggests that the Cubs are pretty much a White Collar Team. (B.S.!) and B) He winds up the book on a downer. "A Century of Losing: 100 Years...

2.0 out of 5 stars Some friend
My friend I bought this book for, though it was a joke and didn't like the idea of this book... so I guess it wasn't a good idea.

I first bought this book because it seemed amusing but after receiving it I discovered a well written book with great facts and anecdotes. It did make me laugh and I felt at one with the Cubs Nation. It is one of my favorite books to send to friends. The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness

34 years of being a Cubs fan - this book made a lot of sense to me. Really well done. I devoured this book in two days. People on the train looked at me as I laughed my way through it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining & Educational for Cubs Fans-Even us New Fans!, April 28, 2007
This review is from: The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness (Paperback)
This book is a MUST for the person interested in becoming a better Cubs fan. I work with a group of women that LOVE to go to the Cubs games. They invited me last year - I had fun, but didn't know much. I was given this book to "teach me" about the Cubs and how a Cubs fan exists. Ellis gives details about being a Cubs fan that are so helpful such as "TANY - There's Always Next Year" and "Beer Will Make it Better". The illustrations were great, and the glossary will come in handy when I go to my next game. I got a lot out of the book, but I know that even the most knowledgeable fans will find lots of new and interesting information in this extremely funny book. You won't be disappointed - it's any easy read, and entertaining. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ellis Hits a Home Run, April 9, 2007

This review is from: The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness (Paperback)
Cubs fans should all carry this guide in their back pocket. Ellis is witty and intelligent, and his guide inspires the most frequently disappointed of all baseball fans, die-hard Cubbies. The stories, the trivia and the illustrations will keep you laughing for all 183 pages. Grab yourself a beer, a bleacher seat and the Guide ... life won't get much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharing our pain together makes it better, April 11, 2007
This review is from: The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness (Paperback)
This book is truely a self help book for Cubs fans who share the pain of being a Cubs fan and all that comes with it. Humor is the best way to deal with hard times and this book being Hilarious makes those hard times a little less stressful. Naturally it makes me feel better about myself when I know that others feel my pain. The author says exactly what all of us Cubs fans feel, and in doing so I will have this book by my side at Cubs games to help deal with the the times like blowing a 7 run lead in the ninth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and easy to read, February 20, 2011

Funny, easy to read. Is good for people who follow the Cubs regularly, although not for a newer fan as many of the writing refer to older players.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hilarious! Great Fun for Cubs Fans!, April 3, 2007
This review is from: The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness (Paperback)
Eversince recieving my copy of The Cubs Fan's Guide to Happiness, I haven't been able to put it down or stop laughing! Just like with the local "spoof" newspaper "The Heckler" which circulates around Wrigleyville, George has you laughing from start to finish! Despite the hilarity of the book, there are also some heart wrenching truths about what it takes to be a CUBS fan (mainly lots of beer!) With its many quizzes, notable quotes and ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS drawings, I can say that this is one of the best books I have ever read. With chapter titles such as "At Least You're Not a Sox Fan" and "Winning Really Isn't Everything" I think it really touches on the good side and the dark side of being a true Cubs fan. This will definately be a CUBS fan classic!
Will buying this book help to 'REVERSE THE CURSE' probably not, but it will help to soothe some of the pain from the past few decades!

-Nicole :)
