From the Inside Flap
For the past 60 years, the Chicago Cubs and WGN-TV have combined to bring a long-running, real-life serial program of joy, frustration, and passion--first to Chicago, then to a national cable audience. The WGN/Cubs relationship is unparalleled in the sports world, and the Cubs have been transformed into America's Team with loyal fans spread across the country. Cubs Forever celebrates the 60-year romance between the team, the superstation, and the fans. It brings to life some of the great games and moments in the team's history, such as Ernie Banks's 500th home run, the first night game at Wrigley Field, the 23-22 slugfest, and four no-hitters. Add in stories from the men who work behind the scenes at Wrigley Field and WGN, plus interviews with the team's many stars over this six-decade period, and you have a baseball bonanza for fans of all ages.
Cubs legends such as Hall of Famers Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, and Ryne Sandberg; broadcasters Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, and Steve Stone; plus Cub fans from Bonnie Hunt to Jimmy Buffett to Bill Murray, commiserate on the ups and downs of being a Cubs fan.
Cubs photographer Stephen Green brings each page to life with a colorful selection of photographs from signature moments in Cubs history along with stunning new portraits of Cubs legends. In addition, Cubs Forever comes with a special DVD containing interviews with key Cubs players and broadcasters. Their unique insights, stories, and humor add a dimension that cannot be covered in the book alone.
