5.0 out of 5 stars Charo takes on Disco!
This is one of 2 albums Charo did with the Salsoul Orchestra and Vincent Montana, Jr., the other being Ole Ole.

This album was originally released on vinyl record. It was remastered, cleaned up and transferred to CD, the artwork was remastered as well and resized for the CD jewel case. CD is a picture disc with the album cover printed on it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I was hoping to find Charo doing more latin tunes or spanish guitar along the lines of "Guitar Passion". I don't know how I missed that this was a disco album.

I met Charo on a cruise in March. She was performing. Her show, which mixed her fun songs and her stunning guitar playing, was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I fell in love with her guitar playing and got in line to get her autograph and her guitar CD, Charo and Guitar. I found this CD, which features her fun side, not her guitar mastery, and decided to get it to see what it was like. It is so much fun. The songs are catchy and/or cute. Some of them go back to the 70s Disco era. It's all about showbiz and Charo has that down to a science. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHARO IS A LATIN WIZARD., January 10, 2007
This review is from: Cuchi-Cuchi (Audio CD)
WOW! "CUCHI-CUCHI" IS A GIFT FROM THE LORD!! In my born days I've never known Charo to disappoint. Her magic-streak continues with this roller disco-licious love letter to fun, and "Cuchi-Cuchi." The title track will send you into spasms of hip shimmying glee -- think the Lido deck, with Isaac at the bar; Julie Mc Coy as your cruise director, and April Lopez stowing away in a laundry basket -- better yet, think Cher at Flipper's Roller Disco, as seen in Rona Barrett's "Hollywood," circa '78. Buy this disc for the title track alone and you will live a few years longer. "Cuchi-Cuchi" is such a stress-relieving slice of yesteryear's Latin magic. Ole', Ole'!! If you don't love this record, you have zero sense of humor and a hatred of puppies and sunshine. Charo is a Latin Wizard! You'll thank me -- and most importantly, you'll thank the loins of Spain for birthing such a uninhibited ambassador of musical cuchi-cuchi. Mark my words, good times lie ahead.

I am so glad I bought this CD. The orchestrations and disco beats are superb together and Charo is perfect to sing these songs. I am sure Cuchi-Cuchi would be huge in disco's even now!
I shall buy Charo's other CD's and some for my friends for Christmas. Perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars disco at its best, August 2, 2006

I recently bought the cd version of Charo's 1977 release "Cuchi Cuchi" and it is one of the finest Disco albums. All the songs are catchy, well orchestrated and fun to dance. The 12" versions of "Cuchi Cuchi" and "Dance a Little Bit Closer" are excellent, "More of You" is a more serious disco song, "Borriquito" and "Cookie Jar" are pure comedy, and there are a few ballads like "El Reloj (The Clock)...But the best song on the cd is the 1978 Christmas classic "Mamacita Donde Esta Santa Claus", a Christimas song set to a disco beat, it's fantastic, whenever I feel down or sad I listen to it, it always gives me a great mood. The cd is worth every penny, I love It!

cuchi cuchi for all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vince Montana, Jr., El Maestro of Orchestra Latin,Disco, Jazz, and more, December 10, 2009

This review is from: Cuchi-Cuchi (Audio CD)
I like this album a lot because (i) Charo is just a lot of fun; her voice reflects the passion she has for music and (ii) El Maestro de orquestracion, Sr. Vince Montana, Jr., is one of my favorite music connoisseurs of the 20th century.

My favorite hits: "Dance A Little Bit Closer," (well-known '77 special on dance floors in clubs in NYC), "Let's Spend The Night Together," (another well-known '77 hit for melodic tropical flavor), "Borriquito" (brings the calvary in for a line dance - similar to the 21st century Macarena, but with more juventud and inocencia) and more ... "El Reloj" is a cute cunacita song which can easily lure you to sleep (think of the great and late Michael Jackson's "You Are My Life" in his Invicible CD). Perhaps, it is a wrong comparison, but both songs give me the anecdote for restlessness. I surely miss MJ.

Other popular hits "Cuchi-Cuchi" and "You're Just The Right Size," which clearly has the Salsoul sounds, were 10-15 minute songs we've danced our a$$ to when on the dance floor. I'm glad I've got this CD to have all versions of the two songs, as well as "Dance A Little Bit Closer."

This is real 1970's disco.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love Charo!, December 12, 2006
This review is from: Cuchi-Cuchi (Audio CD)
Larga vida a Charo!
