This album is definitely better than Bucketheadland 2. It's chock-full of powerful, funky metal. With the sort of double bass drumming on this album I don't mind a lot of it being drum machine. I'm in it for the guitar and the grooves. Sometimes this album is a little scattered and suffers from a sort of easily distractedness on the part of Bucket, but its solid Bucket thrashing his bucket off. If you liked Population Override and Electric Tears, be warned this is nothing like those albums. There seems to be three types of Bucket albums, hard serious albums (cuckoo), melodic slow albums (Tears), and silly annoying albums (BHL2). This one is worth buying.

Buckethead has released an awesome album in "The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell." This is a very unique album in that so many different styles are represented on this album from metal, to funk, blues, etc.. Buckethead is an extremely gifted guitar player and posesses great technical ability. He is right up there with today's virtuosos (i.e. John Petrucci) and can shred with the best of them, but what I love about Buckethead is that he chooses to explore and experiment with the guitar rather than getting caught up in one category, whether it be mindless shred (which can be great), releasing the same album every year, (cough, Malmsteen) or whatever.
If you are a fan of unique guitar playing or great guitar playing for that matter, by all means pick up this album. Buckethead is truly a refreshing guitarist who is not afraid to mix it up on this album.
