4.0 out of 5 stars Mickey and the Bean Stalk...A Classic!, February 25, 2002
By A Customer
I remember this movie from my childhood and still love it. I like this version better than the one featured in "Fun and Fancy Free." My siblings and I can still remember every line from the movie; We watched it that much!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mickey, Donald and Goofy take on the Giant and the Beanstalk, May 10, 2001
"Mickey and the Beanstalk" is one of those rare Disney shorts that has the feel and look of one of the studio's feature length animated works, mainly because it was originally part of the 1947 grab-bag feature "Fun and Fancy Free." Donald and Goofy get as much screen time as Mickey in this amusing revision of the tale of Jack. The best sequence is when the magic beanstalk starts growing at night and the animators also do a nice job of making the giant look, uh, gigantic! One of the best Disney "mini-classics," and a treat for parents as well as kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mickey and the Beanstalk = Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!!!, March 27, 2008
A Kid's Review
I can't believe that this has gotten bad reviews!!! The only two things you really need to be scared of when buying this VHS tape is that there might be tracking problems (but there weren't any), and that VHS is now uh, extinct (not that I mind) A very good cartoon. It used to be a part of Fancy Fun and Free, but I thought that this by itself would be better (and it was). It is narrated by Ludwig Von Drake and he appears with his cute little cricket, Herman three times in the "movie". This great Mickey Mouse cartoon is very funny, entertaining, and well animated. One awsome thing about Mickey and the Beanstalk was Mickey was voiced by Walt Disney himself! It also has some veeeeery catchy songs. I keep finding my self quietly singing some of those songs!

The plot is basically this: Mickey, Goofy, and Donald live in a place called Happy Valley. The song of a magic harp brings joy and prosperity to everyone in the valley until a huge shadow comes over the valley and steals the magic harp. Pretty soon, nobody in unHappy Valley has enough to eat and there are nothing but peasants. It shows Mickey, Donald and Goofy sitting around a table with nothing... uhg! I'm giving the whole thing away!!!!!!!!! Anyway, it's basically the story of Jack and the Beanstalk with a great Disney twist. Donald and Goofy get almost as much screen time as Mickey, but I'm happy that you see Mickey Mouse the most. Two thumbs way up!!!
