This review is from: Cuisinart 2-Piece Carving Knife Set (Kitchen)
Just received this before Thanksgiving to carve the turkey and ham. The full tang (steel runs from blade through the handle) is nice plus and it feels very solid. The handle is a plastic material but has a solid grip and looks and feels like quality for the price. The edges of the steel through the handle has a slight edge to it and extends slightly beyond the width of the handle, but not enough to cut yourself on.
The fork is what I really bought this item for and it is very sturdy with thick and rigid tines that can easily man-handle a nine pound ham without fear of it bending and dropping your roast on the floor. The fork's finish is nicely polished and smooth. The knife on the other hand, while also solidly constructed, is on the dull side. It had problems slicing through turkey breast on the bird, but is a good length overall. Up close, you can see that the blade is not entirely smooth, there are slight grooves perpendicular to the blade's edge that indicate heavy grinding. The blade's edge itself feels fairly sharp, it just doesn't do a great job slicing through meat. Good for $20 or less, as a quality fork is much more than the price of the two combined, just don't expect a smooth cut from the knife
