5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart 4-Foot Hose Portable Grill
Although the first hose I purchased had to be returned, the second one went on perfectly and I'm quite pleased with the entire unit. Cuisinart stood behind the product and was informative about correct action on the first hose.

I bought this adapter hose for my Cuisinart grill, which sits on my Cuisinart stand, which holds a standard propane tank. It seems like these items should go very well together. One might say, that they are made for one another.

And it's true, I was able to attach the hose to the grill fairly easily, tuck it neatly away with a special clip provided by the stand, and attached the tank without an issue. It all fit together.

However, the instructions are very careful, as it should be with propane grills, to direct the user to check for gas leaks using a solution of diluted dishsoap. Seems like a standard CYA move. But much to my dismay, my set up had leaks near the grill connection; and I and had to detach, re-attach, tighten, wiggle ... until the leaks disappeared. Now since this potential issue was pointed out in the manual along with instructions on how to address it you may be thinking that it seems rather unfair to ding Cuisinart for the problem.

I disagree.

To me it seems like components designed to work in unison should do so flawlessly, that's the expectation you have when you don't opt for the generic brand. Secondly, stopping leaks seems like a core functional requirement for a hose. I mean you could use a string to 'connect' the grill and the propane tank. Delivering the propane to the tank is the whole point of a hose. So if you have a leak, whatever gas is leaking out is not being delivered to the tank.... hence, fail.

It's true that all hoses can have leaks and it's a somewhat universal problem, but I base my low rating on the fact that I am using a matching grill, the set up had leaks on the very first connection, and it's price. I had higher expectations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Danger! Defective seal and leaks which could endanger your life!, September 23, 2010

This review is from: Cuisinart 4-Foot LP Adaptor Hose (Lawn & Patio)
We purchased the Cuisinart CCG-200 Gas Grill. It requires the Cuisinart 4-Foot LP Adaptor Hose to work with a 20 gallon propane tank. So we eagerly purchased the Cuisinart 4-Foot LP Adaptor Hose fully anticipating a wonderful barbecue. What a huge mistake! No matter how much we tightened the connector to the 20 lb. tank, the connection still leaked like crazy.

Message to you Cuisinart: How terrible and unacceptable that you would release such a product to the general public! A simple test at the factory could have easily shown this item to be defective. Shame on you! I have worked with propane tanks on and off for over 35 years. I know how to test with soapy water, and I know when it is an obviously defective item. WHAT ABOUT NEWBIES THAT HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO TEST THIS DEFECTIVE HOSE? YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO RELEASE SUCH AN ITEM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR YOU ARE ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF PRECIOUS PEOPLE!

This item is NOT like a soccer ball, book, computer component, etc. You are selling a defective item that has the potential of taking human lives. Get your act together or take the item off your list for general public use.

You have no excuse whatsoever for such a terrible blunder. Where is the quality control that should be in place for such an item?

Last, I am not the only person that has experienced such non-sense. I read other reviews that are saying the same thing: the hose/connector LEAKS.

I'll NEVER buy a propane item from you again. You have violated and lost my trust. Period.

I've tried two of these and both cause leaks which blow gas out of the valve connection. I'll be going with another brand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart 4-Foot LP Adaptor Hose (Lawn & Patio)
I have the Cuisinart All Foods Gas grill, and I have been using the 16 oz camping canisters. These work great and are quite portable. However, they only last for 3 hours. I decided to get the Cuisinart conversion hose so I can hook it up to my 20lb tank. This has been great. It allows me to not have to worry to much about having to get more propane. All you have to do is screw in both sides. One to the regulator and one to the gas tank. Took less than a minute, and then I was grilling. Works Great!

The product was exactly what I expected to receive and fit the grill perfectly. It is great to have a larger tank as I do most of the grilling at home. Thanks for the excellent service too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well; hope my anti-animal trick works!, August 1, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart 4-Foot LP Adaptor Hose (Lawn & Patio)
I'm happy with the way this works--beats the small canisters. Was concerned about possible animal gnawing==I live near the woods and it's like animal kingdom here. Tried to buy a stainless steel hose, but no one seems to be making them. Hardware store and automotive supply people shrugged their shoulders at the problem. So here's my solution: I bought four spiral-bound notebooks, removed the spiral and wrapped it around the hose. It doesn't look terrible, and critters will get a mouthful of metal. Let's see if that works!!

Maybe I'm missing something but I bought a blue rhino 15lb propane tank from Lowes and the hose/tank hisses and leaks quite a bit when I screw them together... Maybe Cuisinart can send me a working hose while I'm forced to either buy another one or use mini canisters forever.

The LP adaptor hose does just that. It connects a large gas canister to your Cuisinart grill.
