This is a gorgeous cookware piece, well worth the investment if you have a family of hearty eaters or entertain frequently. Its generous 16-quart capacity holds enough homemade chicken and dumplings or five-star chili for 10 or more substantial portions. Tall and somewhat stout (though not ponderous), it'll cover the largest burner and then some, and all but the lowest rack will need to be removed for oven cooking. Sturdy, stay-cool handles with wide handgrips provide balance and control for lifting and carrying, and the lid's contoured handle has a high arch so your hand need never touch the hot stockpot. The tight-fitting cover has a dripless rim and creates a partial vacuum, sealing the lid to the pan; this ensures minimal evaporation, so natural juices and nutrients aren't reduced, though spillage is. Its exterior shine is impressive, making this piece equally appropriate for the table. I have purchased many Cuisinart pots and pans over the last 17 years. In the 90's Cuisinart made some cookware in the Pacific rim, (small sauce pans and skillets with a square, not round, hole in handle), it didn't seem to measure up to their usual standards. This stock pot has the same quality and feel as my 1985 starter sets' 9-quart stock pot. I am completely satisfied with my new 16-quart stock pot and the price from Amazon made me feel guiltly for paying so little!
