Product Description

Amazon.com Review

This set of first-rate pots and pans equips any cook with the essentials of a functioning kitchen. With tight-fitting lids that prevent evaporation and provide versatility from stovetop to oven, the stockpot and straight-sided saucepans handle dozens of cooking chores, from boiling and simmering to braising and reducing. What the stockpot and saucepans don't do, the fry pan does. Cuisinart's Everyday Stainless cookware line features bottom disks of copper--cookware's best heat conductor--sheathed in steel to conduct heat rapidly and uniformly, permitting cooking at lower temperatures and preventing scorching. These bottoms won't warp, and the cookware resists corrosion and doesn't stain. Because handles are welded, there are no inside rivets to clean around, so pots and pans scrub up hygienically. The beautiful mirror-finish 18/10 stainless steel (dishwasher-safe) begs to be displayed in an open rack. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars A Godsend for our kitchen, November 26, 2000
By
This review is from: Cuisinart 99-7 Everyday Stainless 7-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I just read another person's poor review of this product, and it compelled me to write because my wife and I have had a very different experience. This cookware is a Godsend. It looks great and is made of heavier metal than the everyday cookware most people use. It has copper sealed inside the base of each piece to promote even heating. We use ours everyday for soups, sauces, vegetables, eggs, etc., and we've never had a problem... and in our experience, the handles have never gotten more than slightly warm.

This cookware is versatile, too. We routinely put it in the dishwasher to clean it, and it comes out looking brand new. We've never had to use any of it in the oven, but since this cookware is all metal this wouldn't be a problem, either. We generally haven't had sticking problems except with the fry pan; I would recommend that you get a nonstick fry pan separately, or make sure you oil the fry pan in this set before each use. As for price? It's not cheap, but check the prices for other "premium" cookware! For what you get, Cuisinart is a good value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied for over 10 years, November 25, 2000
This review is from: Cuisinart 99-7 Everyday Stainless 7-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I disagree that this cookware burns food easily. Maybe the other reviewer is keeping the heat up too high? The handles do look like they'd stay cool and they do get warm sometimes where a potholder is needed, but I wouldn't describe them as "blazingly hot". I've warmed up soups, etc. and was able to remove the pots from the stove barehanded after cooking. The closer you hold the handle to the pot, the hotter it gets. The handles are strong and never loosen up, and that is what is important to me. I have enjoyed this cookware for over 10 years now and have no complaints. It stands up to rough use and still looks new. I wouldn't describe them as "lightweight" either. The bottoms are quite substantial. I plan on adding to my collection since the sale prices are super.

2.0 out of 5 stars Burning when used with gas, April 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart 99-7 Everyday Stainless 7-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
The three previous reviews, while not in agreement, point out one serious flaw in this cookware for some gas users.

We have had a set for nearly 15 years and it worked fine when used with electric stoves. We now have a professional gas cooktop with very large burners. As a result, we get burning along the sides of the pots.

The base of each unit has a thick copper core that promotes even heating. The heat from the gas flame causes burning to occur along the sides where the metal is thin.

We are planning to convert most of our cookware to thicker units (All-Clad or Calphalon style) as we replace them.
