Two powerful kitchen appliances have been brought together in this blender/food processor by Cuisinart. The heavy-duty motor base is up to both blending and processing tasks, and won't "walk" on the counter, even when it's crushing ice. Use the blender with its dripless pour spout to make and serve 40 ounces of frozen drinks or to purée baby foods or soups; use the processor to prep up to 3 cups of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and meats. With one motor base, it's simple to keep the blender out on the counter and then bring out the processor attachment for special tasks.
This is an amazingly sturdy product, with tight fitting lids, a heavy glass blender jar, and a motor that chops meats or ice with equal aplomb. Most attachments go in the dishwasher, and the flat touch pad, which has seven settings, including "ice crush" and "pulse," is easily wiped down with a sponge. After reading all the reviews, I decided to throw caution to the wind and purchase the Duet. I'm very pleased. All blenders are loud, so that isn't an issue. My blender didn't have a burning smell as I have read in other reviews. I love the fact that one unit does a multitude of work. I have used the food processor several times and am very happy with that, too. Overall for all the features, the price is right and it does its job; it is also sleek and looks great on the counter. I've had it for less than 6 months--hopefully mine will last longer than other reviewers units.

I have now owned two identical versions of this particular blender. Unfortunately both broke after a year in exactly the same way. The black plastic gear that engages the blades cracked, and in both cases it broke on while blending either bag ice or most recently, frozen bananas. Considering that these ingredients are not that hard to blend, I am greatly disappointed. If you buy a Cuisinart, it's because you demand quality. However if you buy this it should only be because you like the appearance, and not because you plan on making frozen drinks or smoothies. As said I've bough two, so obviously I've been patient; but no more.

I had high hopes for this food processor but I'm very disappointed in it. First off, it's extremely loud. If you intend to use it, get earplugs. I'm not kidding either. It's so loud I honestly believe it could damage your hearing if you run it for extended periods of time.
The blender works okay I suppose, but the food processor using the S blade chops very poorly in my experience. Food just gets stuck along the sides and I constantly have to stop and push it back down with a spoon. It seems to have been getting worse over time so I don't know if it's breaking or what. (*edit* It did break a few months after I wrote this) I can honestly say the last food processor I had which was $30 from Walmart chopped much better and was much quieter. This one is so loud and works so poorly I hate using it. There are a lot better machines out there so I'd recommend passing on this one and reading reviews for other machines.
