Beautiful and SHARP,

I paid twice as much for a Wusthof set that I ended up exchanging for these knives. These are so much nicer! The weight is perfect (not too heavy and not as light as the Wusthofs) and the stainless steel finish looks classy. Personally, I don't care if they're made in China or wherever...as long as the blades are sharp and look nice, I'm happy. This set is both. The knives have really sharp blades. You don't have to use a sawing motion, they cut great by just pressing down on something, like good knives should. I love them and think they're a great deal! Couldn't be happier =)

Awesome!,

I got this set as a gift and absolutely love it. The brushed stainless steel handles are beautiful, and the knives are super sharp. After using Henckels knives for over 10 years, I must say I'm a Cuisinart convert and probably won't go back. The knives feel solid but not overly heavy, and the kitchen shears are a great addition to the set. I use the shears much more now that I have a set where they fit into the block. They're really handy for cutting herbs and green onions and such right into your dishes. All in all it's a great set, and with a lifetime warranty, you just can't go wrong.

Cuisinart 8-Piece Cutlery Set,

Never can understand why Amazon inflates the prices of things. They value these at $275.00.These knives sell for 39.99 every place I checked but even considering the price is no cheaper here than elsewhere these knives are great for the price and free shipping was good too. I have spent a lot of time looking for a set that meets my needs and these are great. They are so sharp looking. Far better than some of the more expensive sets I almost purchased.

Just received my set and am very pleased. Yes they're light weight, but that's not a bad thing. I've owned many knives where I've paid more for one knife than this set and some I've had for more than 15 yrs have very similar blade thickness. Kershaws are a fine example. In my mind they're kitchen utensils and not construction equipment. One major German brand has a set that I checked out that is their moderate price line and they don't come close to this set and sell for $129. Thinner blades also take much less sharpening effort and strokes, so less steel is lost in the process
One item I'm impressed with is the sharpening steel . I have 5 and this one puts them all to shame. I used it on some of my older knives and only took 4-5 strokes to get a fine edge. Received these in only 3 days so I'm also very pleased with the Amazon service

A good set for $40,

I have to admit I've never handled a real high quality knife (as in $50 a piece). This is surely not a $250 knife set though. While I think it'll serve me well it would not make a good high end gift. There are a number of very minor scratches and blemishes and the edge of the knives are noticeable imperfect (one side has a bit more metal ground off then the other ect., and the block is also imperfect)
I'd say it's worth $40 though and I'm happy with it. I'm giving it 3 stars based on it's presentation as a $250 set. Also note these knives are very light (which I like) and I got satin chrome handles not black as in the photo.

The knives are very sharp, right out of the box. Light yes, but not flimsy or anything like that, they are solidly constructed. The sharpening steel as mentioned is very nice, and the wood block also. You have all the basic knives you need. I recommend this for a person wanting a quality set in the lower price range. At $40 this is a no-brainer if you are looking for such an item. I would definitely recommend these over the cheap lines of the German "name" brands wrt to what you get for the money.

At Last, knives that look good on the counter and are decent, at a decent price. So far, even after a few times in the dishwasher, they still look nice and don't need sharpening. This is a perfect set to have out while your 2 or 3 mega-buck Tridents are in the drawer waiting for more than an everyday knife need. The hollow handles do make them a touch light in the hand, and there is some minimal staining that needs care, but for the price, these do well.

This set looks as great as it performs. All of the pieces are nicely designed and are all VERY sharp. A nice assortment of sizes and although I have not yet needed to use the sharpener I am glad to have it around. The block is very sturdy and attractive. These knives are very lightweight and are easy to hold and maneuver. A super set for your basic everyday kitchen needs.

The cutlery is very stylish and pretty. It was purchased at a very resonable price but needs to be sharpened more often then my Chicago set. For the price I can sharpen more often.

I thought I'd chime in with my opinion about this knife set. I've had many other sets over the years, and this is the best value I've every purchased. Leave it to amazon to offer such a good product at a good price and free shipping. They are winners in my book. After receiving the knives I was so impressed with the quality and feel of them as well as the beauty of the knife block that I ordered two more for wedding presents. I'm very careful not to wash them in the dishwasher, because I know how rough a dishwasher can be on good quality kitchenware. I usually just rinse the knife blade off (and handle, if it's dirty), then wipe with a clean towel. I've had the set for about a month, used it every day, and it still amazes me with its look and quality. Haven't had to use the steel yet, but from what others have said it should do a good job of sharpening. So far the blades have stayed razor sharp. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate it a 6. 8-) Hope this helps. Rick
