Bought a cheap toaster at Target. It turned out either warm bread or smoke, so I took it back and bought this one. Has excellent adjustment of toasting level, smoth action. Wish it had a beep when done. Maybe if I read the manual.

I spent a long time looking for toasters before buying this one. Most of what is available at mass retailers is so cheaply made I would be afraid to bring it into my home. The last big box purchased, name brand toaster I bought caught on fire mere months after being purchased. To be truthful, I would have bought almost anything decent not slapped together by slave labor in China. However, it seems Corporate Amerika (spelling intentional) seems determined to deny us that option- even if we are willing to pay what it costs. This Cuisinart is made in The People's Republic of China just like all the rest- it just doesn't seem as ready to burst into flames. It should be more than possible to make a toaster that carries a MSRP of $130 in the US or some developed country where people are not locked up for wanting to vote in free elections. Even at the Amazon price what you are getting is about the same quality that used to be made here for $20-30. The level of greed that allows someone to put such a price on a toaster made in a Chinese sweatshop is astounding. Bottom Line: If you want a toaster that doesn't seem so cheap you are afraid to bring it home here is your model. Everything I have seen below this price point looks like a tragedy waiting to happen. Nothing special- just a toaster. Cuisinart should lower the price or move production back to the USA. |
