RE: MY REVIEW S WHAT A MACHINE/NOT SO TOASTY TOASTER!, January 7, 2004
First you can disregard my first review of this product as I was premature in my accessment. Purchased 9/02, a few weeks ago it started making a loud buzzing noise when you tried to start it, so we quit using it for a few days, when we tried using it a few days later it did not make the noise but it only toasts on one side. There are two adults in this house, this toaster is not heavly used. I contacted Cuisinart giving them the model#, Serial # ect.. In order for them to honor their 3 year warranty one has to jump through hoops by 1) Packaging the item, and mailing it back to them at your own expense. 2) Send them payment of $$ to cover the cost for them to ship you a replacement unit. I imagine not many folks have the time to do all of the above, I know I do not and if you figure out how much it costs you in time and money you have spent the cost of a new toaster running around and packaging/paying for shipment. I suppose putting all these conditions on their Warranty makes for not having to honor it very much. I am really glad I did not pay $65.00 for this toaster. As I told Cuisinart I will purchase a new toaster but it will not be a Cuisinar!

You get what you pay for, December 12, 2002
The Cuisinart CPT-35 is a relatively inexpensive, no frills toaster, so you can't expect much from it. It toasts well, although you can't leave the setting on 3 and expect it to toast a frozen bagel as well as a thin slice of wheat bread. You DO have to change the settings for individual items. The extra wide slot is great for large, specialty shop bagels. The cancel button works as an ejector so you don't have to force up the toasting lever. The crumb tray slides out easily for cleaning. In case you can't tell from the picture, this is a long, narrow machine - the two slices go side by side, not across from each other. The construction is lightweight, at least compared to my old T-Fal toaster. You won't find fancy features with this toaster. The cancel button and the wide slot are the only notable features, and they are hardly high-tech. For an inexpensive toaster, the Cuisinart works as well as can be expected.

Not so toasty toaster!!, December 30, 2003
I purchased this toaster in September of 2002 from AMAZON.COM. I chose it because of the brand reputation, the fact that it is slender and would not stick out on the counter top, it is a basic toaster , with only two people in our home it was not about to get heavy use and we could do bagels with the wide slots. I was happy with this appliance until a few weeks ago. When you pushed the lever down to start the toaster it would make a very loud buzzing sound, so we stopped using it. When we started using it again it did not make the buzzing sound but it now toasts on only one side! While I realize what I paid for this toaster is not a huge amount I still expect it to perform longer than it did, considering the little use it gets. So now I pull out my receipts and warranty and hopefully can get a replacement.
