5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Pot Rack for Joists Spaced 16" Apart
This rack, made in Indonesia, appears to be completely made of solid stainless steel - unlike others that use chrome plated or aluminum hooks or chains. It has a center grid. All mounting hardware is included, even ceiling screw hooks. It uses rigid stainless strips to connect to the ceiling, not chains.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality Pot Rack for Joists Spaced 16" Apart, March 21, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack (Kitchen)

Make sure your ceiling joists are 16" apart or you're mounting this in parallel along a single joist. My joists are 18" apart unfortunately, and the Amazon description fails to mention this requirement.

One last note, Cuisinart customer service offered no help whatsoever with my installation problem. Good product, poor support.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Rack!, January 14, 2009
This review is from: Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack (Kitchen)
The pot rack is great, easy to assemble and looks great in our kitchen.
Two quick points about assembley:
1. Some of the hardware described in the directions has changed. It looks to me like improvements/updates were made to the hardware but not the instruction sheet. Still no problems installing and everything worked fine.
2. This pot rack does not use chains for installation. We did not take this into consideration when we bought this for our kitchen, which has 10 foot ceilings. We ended up buying a small length of chain to lower the rack so that pots could be reached. This is not Cisinart's problem, it is ours, but thought readers would want to know so they can plan accordingly.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, January 1, 2011

I have been wanting a hanging pot rack for quite some time but they always seemed a bit over priced. Found this one on sale and with the free shipping I could not pass it up. It is heavy duty and holds my new Cuisinart pots with no problem. My husband installed it with absolutely no difficulty. I have received a lot of compliments from family and friends. I would highly recommend this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missing pieces w/ no replacement pieces being sent., July 15, 2010

This review is from: Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack (Kitchen)
I just received this in the mail yesterday but when I tried to put it together I found that it was missing a number of nuts, bolts, and washers. Probably not a big deal as nearly any hardware store carry replacement stainless steel bolts. Probably can replace it for around $5.

But when I called Cuisinart customer service I was told that pot racks were "sort of a sticking point" and that they did not have any parts bags that they can send to me. The only resolution was to repack the whole thing and send it back. I guess I can do that but quite frankly it's easier (and cheaper) to go to the hardware store to buy the replacements than to repack the thing, haul it to the post office, wait for a replacement (with potentially similar missing pieces issues). Which is probably something I will end up doing.

The product itself appears to be made of decent stainless steel, so once I get this thing finally set up, I'm sure it will be fine. But the response from customer support is not what I expected from Cuisinart. Sounds like they are running this product out (my suspicion), or Cuisinart's quality control program has some room for improvement. After asking to speak to a supervisor and "holding" for 15 mintues, I decided that life was too short bang my head against the wall for a $5 part. Instead, I'm writing this review.

So if you do purchase this product, realize, there is a high likelihood that you may have to either send it back or go to the hardware store before you have a functioning product. Wish I knew that before I purchased it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Problematic Grid, November 18, 2011

I bought this pot rack due to its overall rating at 4.5 star and Cuisinart brand. However, I was really disappointed with the bad design and have to return it for a refund. Everything is fine with the exception of the grid. I could not place the grid securely on the octagonal base. The grid is supposed to sit on the 4 long bolts. Unfortunately, the grid width is too narrow (or the 4 long bolts are not long enough).

1.0 out of 5 stars DANGEROUS Manufacturing error!, December 2, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack (Kitchen)
A manufacturing error which I would expect exists on ALL newly manufactured items renders this rack dangerous to use. The welded end is almost a 1/4" wider than the bolts will safely support the pot grid which floats inside this rack. The end formed by bending is nominally sufficient. The holes on the bent end are almost 1/4" closer together. Wiggle the rack a little bit getting a pot and the whole set of pots with the grid will land on you. You will be injured or dead. I have contacted Cuisinart concerning this dangerous issue. I have filed a report with the consumer product safety board. I will contact Amazon directly when I finish supper.

OK Here is the deal. The current Amazon price is a very nice deal. The all clad is a fortune and others go much higher. The hanging grid does not fit properly. Can it be fixed by the handy person purchasing the rack? Yes, but you need to be very careful not to ruin your investment. So the rack is too large, or the grid is too small. You are not going to stretch the grid, so you need to bend the rack itself. If your rack is not particularly oversize you can do the following carefully: (1) assemble the entire rack and see how loose the grid is. (2)remove the grid and with the rack on its side, gently bend first one end (hold near holes) and then the other probably over a carpet (3)recheck with the grid to see if it now touches close to the rack. If your rack is quite oversize, the same concept will work but you will need a vise with jaw covers and a steady hand.

The price is so good, and the alternatives so expensive, I would encourage you to exercise your home mechanics skills. DO NOT install this unit with the rack floating on the last thread -- if anything, make is fit TIGHT. Good luck.

The rack itself has threaded holes; proper assembly following the diagrams provided is critical.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MY CUISINART POT RACK, February 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart CRC-29B Octagonal Hanging Cookware Rack (Kitchen)
I love my new pot rack. Everything was as described and all parts were there. However, I had a professional install it and he had to do it differently than described because the ceiling joists were not in the right place to center it over my kitchen island, and I also had to buy some chain because my ceilings were too high.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!!!!!!!!!!, February 22, 2012

Bought this item as a Christmas gift for the house and we love it. The only complaint was the the supplied bolts were too short but after replacing them with new stainless steel metric bolts from Home Depot, the rack stayed in place and all of our new pots are hanging over the stove.

This is a great pot rack, but please bear in mind the following:

1. You need to align the pots so that they're balanced. I've got some very heave large pots, and they need to be in the middle of the rack.
2. You need to install it (or, as in my case, have someone allowed to use power tools install it) into either a ceiling beam, or a beam that is installed to connect to existing joists. If you stick it in the ceiling without doing that, it will fall out. (As per the nice professionals who installed it for me.) You don't need to be a professional to install it, they were at my house replacing all the lighting in the kitchen, so the ceiling had been removed anyway.
3. If you're tall, you can put the lids on the top. If you're vertically challenged, hang it a little lower using some chain links you can easily get at the hardware store.

Great potrack. I like this since we only had to make 2 holes in the celing. It doesn't swing since there is no chain so it looks clean and sturdy.
