Features and Benefits

One Touch On/Off Button: Allows you to activate the hand blender at the touch of a button. Simply press and hold down the Low or High button to blend or pulse. Once the button is released, blending will stop.

Comfort Handle: The handle allows you to control the hand blender with ease.

Motor Body Housing: A powerful 200-watt motor operates with an easy one-touch control.

Detachable Shaft: By pressing the release button on the back of the unit, the shaft will detach for easy cleaning.

Blending Attachment with Stainless Steel Blade and Blade Guard: This attachment easily snaps into the motor body housing. The stainless blade is partially covered by a stainless housing that keeps splashing to a minimum.

Mixing Beaker: 2-Cup mixing beaker is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Use this container to blend drinks, shakes, salad dressings and more. Designed for easy gripping and drip-free pouring.

Operating the Hand Blender

The specially designed blade is for mixing and stirring all kinds of foods, including salad dressings, powdered drink products, and sauces. It is ideal for combining dry ingredients, and can be used to emulsify mayonnaise, too.

This blade mixes and stirs while adding only a minimum of air to your mixture. A gentle up-and-down motion is all you need to make the most flavorful, full-bodied liquid recipes.

Cleaning

Always clean the Smart Stick motor body and blending shaft thoroughly after using.

Remove the blending shaft from the motor body. Clean the motor body only with a sponge or damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners which could scratch the surface. To clean the blending shaft, wash by hand in hot water using mild detergent, or in the dishwasher.

Mixing - The two speed operation is handy. For making soups, you can do most of the job on low speed, even with chunky vegetables. This makes it easier to control how thick the final product is, and it makes for less possibility of splash-ups. The switch feel is sure (good tactile feel). The blade is stocky and sharp - it looks like it's built for business. I blended a large pot of tomato black bean garlic soup down in under 30 seconds.

Motor - Plenty of power. It's quiet compared to my last blender (especially on low), which was 3x the price. I cannot comment on durability yet, as this is a new model.

Size/weight/feel - Hefty, but not heavy. It has a quality feel with a nice balance. If it were too light, it would feel cheap.

Cord - Long enough to get the job done, but not too long to make wrapping up the cord a hassle.

Assembly/Cleaning - Easy to attach/detach. The lock-up feels solid. So far, there's little mechanical play in the interface. It's very easy to clean by hand if you don't wait for it to dry up.

I've grown to like Cuisinart products. It looks like they have a winner here.

4/10/2013 update - I've had this for several months now, and I can say the concern about the plastic gear on the prior version does not appear to be an issue on this design. I've used it dozens of times and there is not a hint of wear. Bumping to 5 stars. It's one of my favorite kitchen tools.

11/17/2013 update - Still going strong. This is my single favorite kitchen tool, and I have lots of them. It's the best combination of usefulness and fun factor. So nice not to have to drag out the food processor for so many tasks any more. I just made a super creamy hummus (in the can, no less) in under five minutes. Fast, yummy, inexpensive and so easy to clean up afterwards.

I have had my Smart Stick for few weeks and am loving it! So easy to use, clean, and store. I am enjoying many more healthy smoothies in the morning, along with delicious soups for lunch. I learned NOT to lift it up too high when blending. (Opps!)
Easy applesauce....I peeled and cut apples, simmered them down, added some cinnamon, and nutmeg.....and gave them a whirl. Delicious! Also made a sweet potato and carrot mix, simmered, drained, added some ginger, and easily whipped it into a side dish my grandchildren loved!
So far...so very good!! Glad I bought it. Arrived promptly and no problems.

Update: 4/23/13: Ignore the words above!!! After maybe 10 uses, none of them on challenging mixes, my Smart Stick has broken. The plastic gear inside looks rough and ragged. The blade barely turns. It happened as I attempted to blend cooked carrots into a soup. I never used it on anything that seemed too solid, so I am very disappointed as I really liked it. Some of the other reviewers mentioned the plastic gear as a weak spot and they were right. Why doesn't Cuisinart make that gear metal rather than plastic??? Buyer beware!

This product has a cheap plastic piece the same as previous models that wears out quickly. It is where you connect the 2 pieces together.I had one that was out of warranty and no replacement part available. I was hoping the new model would fix the problem. It had not changed. I found out after ordering the product so l returned the box without even opening it.

This is the second time I've experienced this problem. First was with a cheaper model (still a cuisinart immersion blender). So, I got this one figuring it would last longer. After 1.5 months the same thing happened (the drive shaft linking the blade to the motor strips). It looks to be a very common problem. Can't return it to Amazon (it's after their allowed return date), and I know from other experiences that my friends have had with Cuisinart that returning even a defective item is extremely time consuming and typically requires original packaging (who keeps that stuff?).

Note that this was with typical use... i.e., the first time it jammed on a frozen blueberry, and the second time on a dried date, both for breakfast smoothies. It's ridiculous to have such a nice blender with such a weak connecting link between the motor and blade.

This is a newer model that actually has more features and costs less than the previous generation Cuisinart CSB-76R SmartStick 200-Watt Immersion Hand Blender, Red. The 200-watts of power is the same, but the newer model has two speeds and still allows one touch, one handed blending. It is an inch longer and wider over all and easily reaches into most pots and bowls.

If you regularly make dressings, soups, smoothies, etc in a regular blender, you really need to try a blender stick instead. They work much better and you completely avoid that seizing up problem most blenders seem to have with smoothies and shakes. Instead of processing soup in batches in a blender, you just immerse your stick blender and have at it all at once, right in the pan and right on the stove.

While these are big time savers and will cut down on dishes, I needed to get used to using the stick before I stopped spraying the wall. Be warned you could splatter yourself and / or your wall the first time or two of use.

If you don't have a stick blender, I highly recommend them. If you're ready to buy one, I highly recommend this one. It is my third and my favorite so far.

Unless you love making soup, you probably won't be interested in the next part.

I love that I can easily make my soup chunky or smooth or any consistency in between just by adjusting the time and / or blending power of this Cuisinart Smart Stick.

For example, I like a smooth, rich vichyssoise. I start by cooking 3 chopped leeks in 4 tablespoons of butter in a 4 quart sauce pan.
