Nice to be cord free,

I have had the Cuisinart plug in hand blender, but wanted to go cordless. I finally broke down and got this one. It is nice to be cord free, but it is pretty heavy, and big for my hands. It does blend well. The other thing I do not like, is that when you charge the base, it does not give you a green light that it is charged. That would be helpful.
It is also very easy to charge, because the handle has a plug built right into it, no separate base. I really like the small mixer bowl attachment that came with it as well. I have used it more than I expected.

This is a wonderfully powerful hand blender. It is LARGE. People with small hands might want hold one first before making an online purchase. I am not delighted with nicad batteries since they are fussy about being discharged before being recharged, but maybe they are necessary due to the large current draw of the motor. This is ideal for pureed soups. No more 10 trips to the blender with hot soup dribbling all over the counter or burning my hands.

I aso have an earlier version of this hand blender and have always loved its usability and effectiveness. Very impressed with this later model - love the extras - whisk and chopper attachments are really excellent - a true multi-tasking "Wizzk kid".
Easy to use, easily stowable, space saving. Great buy!

Wish I'd paid attention to the review that said it was a large stick. The unit is too large and too heavy for me. On first use, the blade attachment wobbles. Doesn't feel safe to say the least. I also don't like rechargable after using it. Most of the time when I want to use a stick, it's impromptu and having to either have it plugged in all the time or wait a few minutes for it to charge is useless. I definitely have buyer's remorse on this one.

Poor battery life,
This review is from: Cuisinart CSB-78 Smart Stick Plus Cordless Rechargeable Handheld Blender (Kitchen)
I have an earlier version of this cordless immersion blender. I loved the idea of a cordless model, but I found some big drawbacks. On a full charge, the battery would run out of juice after about 5 minutes. So if you want to puree several batches of food at once, you're out of luck until you wait for the battery to charge.
After about a year, my battery no longer held a charge while the unit was in storage. Now I have to plan ahead and plug in my blender the day before I want to use it. (It takes a long time to recharge the battery.) Hopefully these battery issues have been remedied in the newer version, but it's something to keep in mind. I'm buying another immersion blender with a cord and junking this one.

Handy to not have a cord, but not much power,

I use a hand blender every day to mix protein shakes; this cordless model has only one setting and has less power than the KitchenAid corded model on the lowest setting. Still the Cuisinart seems fine for the task of mixing liquids, but I would not expect it to be any good at chopping foods. I'm a bit concerned if the battery wears down over time if it will be up to the task even when fully charged.
Also not ergonomic at all. If you have small hands BEWARE as the grip is very big. The power switch is on the very top and you must continuously hold it down (for safety, I guess.) Of course it is handy to not have the cord.

This is an amazing kitchen tool. I have used it mainly for chopping bell peppers, onions and others veggies. Amazingly quick and easy to clean up. Love it.

After years of using a hand blender with a cord, this cordless hand blender gave me that freedom to work anywhere in the kitchen. But that was the only good feature. The rechargable battery-pak handle weight became very heavy with extended time use. And what aggrevated the workload was the sluggish blending power (particularly when it came to crushing icy drinks). Even my protein drinks took much longer to blend smoothly compared my old corded model. I didn't bother to try out the attachments after my usual daily usage became very belabored. Also, the push-button 'joints' were loose before and during use. Shame on Cuisinart...I returned it for a refund immediately and purchased a corded model! I will put up with the cord for a light weight, ergonomic hand-held with the tremendous blending power instead.

Defective -- and Cuisinart wants me to pay twice for shipping,

This review is from: Cuisinart CSB-78 Smart Stick Plus Cordless Rechargeable Handheld Blender (Kitchen)
The item was defective out of the box -- motor shaft was out of alignment, so it couldn't be coupled to any of the attachments. OK, so defects happen. When I called Cuisinart, they explained that their limited warranty requires me to pay $10 for them to ship me a new one AND for me to pay for shipping the old one back, lest they charge me for the new one.
I imagine it's a great product, but be aware it's going to cost you $20 plus hassle if it's defective. Cuisinart makes nice stuff but they don't exactly stand behind their products.

Virtually everything about this stick blender is well-conceived and well-designed. Battery-powered with good battery life. Powerful. Good attachments, which are included with it. Mixes well. Exceptionally easy to clean, in part because of splitting up into three pieces. My only minor criticism is that the connection between the battery and motor housing is a little rickety, but only I do mean only "a little."
This is definitely among the more-inspired purchases I've made in recent months or even years! |
