A $17.00 Fork - Poor Thermometer,

It takes almost a minute to get the temperature and even after that it reads twenty five degrees low. I did a comparison with my wife's oven thermometer and my old grill thermometer in a microwaved glass of water, Cuisnart was 25 degrees lower than the other thermometers. I ruined quite a few steaks trying to get used to this device, I gave up and just use it to turn the steaks over now. Not worth the money.

I expected a food thermometer to be great since it is Cuisinart, however, it takes a long time to register the food temp when you're cooking steaks. By the time it reads what it is supposed to be according to the button you push, such as medium rare, it is already past the point you want it cooked.

This is a nicely made thermometer fork, and I like how you can remove the tines for washing. Unfortunately it doesn't work very well: it takes a really long time to read the proper temperature. I've left it in for nearly twenty seconds and it still hasn't stabilized, whereas my backup probe type food thermometer gives me the proper temperature in under five seconds. If you can't get the right temperature quickly it kind of defeats the purpose of using it.
