I made a lot of Christmas cookies this year - chose this model for the # of disks. I was a little disappointed to see that 10 of the disks are just the numbers "1" through "10" (for making cake decorations I guess). Anyway, I was making my 5th or 7th batch of spritzen Christmas cookies (3rd use of the unit), and the barrel cracked! Here is what I think happened: I may have overloaded the barrel, and the dough expanded. I had put the loaded press into the fridge in between batches while each batch baked, and perhaps the dough expanded in the fully packed barrell - cracking the barrel. At first, Cuisinart said I would have to pay to send back the broken one, and pay for postage for a replacement. How is this "lifetime warranty"? I complained, and Cuisinart just sent me a new unit. So, in the end it worked out great - except the barrel is constructed with too thin plastic in my opinion. Just don't overload the barrel, or let the dough rest in it if you do!

The plastic ends kept popping off on the fist use. I changed to a softer dough and this continued to happen. POOR quality! Unusable... Luckily Amazon returns are easy and I ordered a metal one with good reviews.

Eight cookies in on my first batch of Spritz and it gives up. Jams and won't release to load more dough. The Cuisinart line has always been very good, in my opinion, but this is just a piece of plastic junk that's going to end up the land fill.

I made 40 dozen cookies with very little effort. It worked wonderfully and was easy to clean. I had a cheaper press and this was 100 per cent better.

I had high hopes but figured it wouldn't last. They don't make things like they used to. I have yet to find a cookie press that can handle making spritz cookies. I used a basic spritz recipe out of a Betty Crocker cookbook. The dough was not chilled. The press lasted 6 cookies and on the 7th I heard a loud pop. That was it. The press would still ratchet down, as long as there was no dough in the canister. It could not handle pushing the dough out after that. Needless to say, I returned it and am still in search of a cookie press that can actually PRESS OUT cookies.
