I looked at all sorts of cast iron cookers and this one was by far the best one out there. In my opinion it is just as good or better built that the lovely Le Creuset ones. A great size too! I am thrilled with this.

I have been looking for a good dutch oven for several years, but could not justify spending a couple hundred dollars. I found this one on sale for about $130 a few weeks ago, and decided to take the plunge.

When my Cuisinart dutch oven arrived, I was disappointed that the lid had a chip in it. After waiting several years to make this purchase, I wanted it to perfect - or at least until I put a chip in it myself. I really do not think the chip was due to the shipping. Amazon packed it really well and the actual manufacturer's box had significant packing too. My guess is that the chip happened prior to shipping, but of course, that is speculation.

I was loathe to go through the return process especially since it was just the lid that was chipped. I contacted Cuisinart directly to see if they could replace just the lid. There is a limited lifetime warranty on the product, but I was told I would have to ship it to them at my expense and they would have to determine whether it was a type of defect that was covered by the warranty. They recommended that I return the pot to the retailer.

Amazon, who I have to say could not have been more helpful in this situation, offered to give a 20% discount. I decided that that was the best option available to me.

So overall, I am pleased with the pot and really happy with the customer service from Amazon. My only gripe is that when you drop this kind of cash, the product ought to perfect - especially if Cuisinart wants to compete with Lodge or pricier competitors in the enameled dutch oven market.
