Product Description

Keep clean, refreshing drinking water readily available throughout the day with this sleek-looking countertop water-filtration system. The dispenser provides a single spigot and two push-button controls: one for room-temperature water and the other for chilled water (a blue LED light indicates when the water has properly chilled to 44 degrees F). Enjoy cool drinking water on its own, mixed with ice and a lemon or lime wedge, or added to flavored drink mixes for instant lemonade, fruit punch, or other favorites on a hot day. The filtration system offers a 1-1/2-gallon capacity: its upper water tank holds about a 1/2 gallon of unfiltered water, the lower tank holds about a 3/4 gallon of filtered water, and the internal cold-water tank holds about a 1/4 gallon. In addition to its removable, upper water tank with a flip-top lid for easy filling, the water dispenser comes equipped with a GF-80 filter, which reduces contaminants such as lead (98.7 percent), chlorine (taste and odor; 97.5 percent), mercury (92.8 percent), benzene (84.1 percent), cadmium (96.6 percent), copper (85 percent), tetrachloroethylene (92.5 percent), and toluene (89.8 percent). The filter lasts for about three months of average household use. Other details include a 12-week filter timer, a removable plastic drainage plug at the bottom of the unit, and an easy-to-clean design. The water-filtration system measures approximately 11 by 10-1/2 by 17-1/2 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty.

Parts & Features
CleanWater features
  1. 12 Week Filter Timer: Lets you know when to change your water filter located on the top of the unit. Each filter will last for 3 months/or up to 48 gallons. NOTE: For optimum filtering and flow rates, the water filter must be prepared and installed in the easy steps exactly as outlined in the instruction manual. In 12 weeks, the word REPLACE will appear to remind you to replace the filter. Once the filter (Cuisinart model GF-80) is replaced, reset the timer by pressing the Start button for 3 seconds. The long life filter reduces chlorine taste and color, mercury, benzene, lead, and more.
  2. Upper Water Tank with Cover/Lower Tank: Upper tank holds approximately 1/2 gallon of unfiltered water with a flip top lid for easy filling plus the lower tank holds approximately 1 gallon of filtered water. After following the operating instructions and set up is complete your unit is ready to use and on subsequent fill ups, the unit should take less than 10 minutes to heat and 30 minutes to chill.
  3. Internal Water Tanks: Hot and cold tank hold approximately 1/2 gallon in total capacity.
  4. On/Off Power Button: Press to power On. This will activate the chilling and heating functions.
  5. Indicator Lights: Red/Blue LEDs light up when water has reached hot/cold temperatures. Green LED lights up when units is in "Energy Saver" mode (hot water is off).
  6. Energy Saver Switch: Turn off your heater when hot water is not needed to reduce the system's energy usage by more than 50%. While in the energy saving mode, you can still dispense water from your hot tank; however, it will not be heated. Simply place the Energy Saver switch in its On position. The green LED will light up, indicating your unit is in Energy Saver mode. Because your unit is in Energy Saver mode and your hot water heater is disabled, the red LED hot water indicator light will turn off when the temperature of the hot water decreases (this can take up to 2 hours). To resume your hot water, simply put the Energy Saver switch in its Off position. After about 15 minutes, the LED hot water indicator will light up, signaling hot water is ready to dispense. Note: If your unit has been in Energy Saver mode for longer than a week, we recommend you flush out your hot water tank by dispensing and disposing of a full glass of water from the left spigot before enjoying your first glass of hot water. Note: We recommend you power your unit off when only room temperature filtered water is needed.
  7. Drainage Plugs: Two removable plastic plugs are located on the bottom of the unit.

Standard Cleaning

  1. Turn the unit off and unplug it from the outlet.
  2. Remove the filter and place it in a bowl.
  3. Lift upper water tank, let it drain into lower tank, and set it aside. Then lift lower tank off base and empty. Careful, a full tank can be very heavy.
  4. Clean the water tanks and cover with warm soapy water. NOTE: Remove filter timer before washing lid. Filter timer is not immersible.
  5. The base is not immersible. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
  6. Dry thoroughly when clean.

Semi-Annual Cleaning

We recommend you clean your unit twice a year to boost its operation and performance and to remove any calcium scale residue from the heating and cooling elements. Please refer to instruction booklet for this cleaning process.

I bought this and wasn't sure what to expect. After quite a bit of research I did know this is a smokin deal for a filter which is NSF 42 and 53 certified. (You need that.) I also checked out replacement filter costs and frequency and this unit is very reasonable.

Pros: It filters water very well. I live in LA and the tap water is horrid. Both my Husband and I like the taste.
Filters are cheap and easy to instal. Whole thing is SUPER easy to use.

Cons: The Cold and Hot tanks only fill up one glass each before they have to do their thing to make it hot or cold. I was expecting something like a tankless water heater where the water runs past the hot coils. This has tanks...

It takes what seems like a long time to filter but once you get it going and you continually add water to the top you won't run out.

This is not a con but you should definitely read the instructions on how to treat the filter before installing and using. ;) I didn't do it right so I just had to drain it and start over. Not that big of a deal.

Overall, I love it. Money well spent!!

I own the 2 gallon Cuisinart CleanWater System and have been using it for 3 weeks with no problems. The cold water is cold, and the hot water is HOT. Set up was minimal with the exception of soaking the filter. I have not experienced any leakage or any problems whatsoever. My family has not bought bottled water since we started using this. I really love the design and how it fits neatly in the corner of my kitchen counter tops.

The product works fine in terms of filtering and cooling water, but it's really LOUD and even in Energy Save Mode, the fan runs almost constantly. After awhile you start to forget about it, since it's a steady white-noise, but then it stops and you realize how nice and quiet everything just became, only for it to turn back on a few minutes later. You wouldn't think a major concern about a water filtering system would be the noise, but I'm honestly ready to set it out for Goodwill...

It worked fine for the first three weeks. Nice clean water taste, nice cold temperature.

Then it stopped cooling the water.

I called Cuisinart, and they said, oh yes, no problem - it happens all the time. The cooling unit has frozen and just needs to thaw. Unplug it and leave it off for several hour to thaw.

Hmmm, I thought - it's brand new, and I have to unplug it to work properly? Not a good sign.

Replace it with a new one? Maybe - but that means pack it, pay for the shipping to return and the shipping for the replacement.

Since I unplugged it, the water has been tasting extremely like plastic. So tonight I called Cuisinart again.

They said, oh yes, no problem - it happens all the time. If the water tastes like plastic, just flush the system with eight cups of pure lemon juice.

I don't have eight cups of pure lemon juice on hand, so who knows how this will be resolved.

But a word to the wise - if you do buy this lovely device, budget some measure of your time for troubleshooting.

The water in my area is absolutely undrinkable straight from the tap. It is full of minerals and in addition is highly chlorinated. My husband and I had tried another solution which was large and cumbersome, the replacement filters were very expensive, and in my opinion the resulting filtered water was not that much of an improvement over the tap water. The Cuisinart water filtration system fits nicely on my countertop, and produces water that tastes as pure as bottled water. This solves my problem perfectly. I have only one small complaint. They need to rethink the buttons you push to dispense the water. They are clumsy to use, and if you press too firmly, the whole unit moves away from you.

The first unit we received had a leaky water tank.
The second unit we got had a crack in the water tank.
The third unit worked fine for a few weeks, then the cooling function and all the lights on front went dead.

The worst part is the time wasted in setting each of these units up. It takes over an hour to get the filter ready and all the tanks filled and primed.

I don't know if Amazon just has a bad batch, or is sending out returns from other customers, but I would buy with caution.

I love my new WCH-1500 water filtration system. It's the perfect size for on the counter and looks great too! It saves me money and is good for the environment because I no longer buy bottled water. The only thing I would change is to make the cold tank a little bigger, I drink so much more water now that it's clean and tastes great. The WCH-1500 serves all my water needs-cold water to drink, hot water for tea or hot chocolate and luke warm for use in my Cuisinart coffee maker.

I've gone through two of these units over the past 4 months and both broke. The first one had an electrical short after only two weeks of usage. The second one, which Amazon was quick to replace, worked perfectly for 5 weeks then the fan malfunctioned and the unit got really hot and made very loud sounds. Now it's too late to get a refund from Amazon and I'm stuck with it and out almost $150 bucks.

I really wish this would have worked out because it fit nicely on my counter-top and the water tasted great. I followed the set up instructions exactly as specified in the manual.
