I bought my first DCC-2000 in October 2006. It slowly faded out, with the controls shutting off unpredictably, until one day, it was just dead. I plugged it in and it wouldn't show the clock, nor would it turn on to brew the coffee. I contacted Cuisinart, who replaced it for a $10.00 shipping fee. I assume the replacement was refurbished. It began doing the same thing at about 9 months to a year. I coaxed about 5-6 more months out of it, but now it is sitting on my counter top DEAD. I will contact Cuisinart again, to see if they will replace again. However, I am not thrilled with having to replace this. A coffee pot that costs as much as this one does should last 5-10 years, not 18 months. When it works, it makes EXCELLENT coffee, and I love the feature of pushing the handle and getting hot, perfect, delicious coffee. It even has a gauge (my hubby enjoys that).

Have had this machine for about 14 months. Worked great until recently when it just stopped working. Unsure I will buy another.

The coffee maker is simple to set up, everyone can use it and the hot plate shuts off before the coffee burns. Great product and great price.

Makes great coffee...and then one day it will quit. The brew switch will no longer function. I managed a few weeks of patiently setting the auto brew for the next minute and fooling it into making me coffee on demand this way but obviously it isn't supposed to work this way. I'm on my third unit both had same problem, the brewing on demand electronics are faulty. It is a chronic problem with past units, perhaps I'll get lucky with this one. You would think Cuisinart would recall or halt manufacturing of this model until they can get it right. I cannot recommend until I'm convinced the issue I've described has been corrected. Beware.

I purchased this coffee maker in 2008. I liked it; my husband hated it right off.

Pros:

No glass carafe to break
Brewed great coffee

Cons:

Need something extra to load the water
Cannot use a large travel mug because it won't fit in the space
It dies within the first year

I really liked this unit for the first few months, but it got to be a pain not being able to just fill a travel cup.

Then it just died. No warning that something was amiss or that it might be dieing, it just died.

This is the cleanest and easiest way to make and serve fresh coffee for hours.

Bought this three years ago and fix 7-8 cups of coffee every morning. Looks good, coffee tastes good, and very convenient,

I expected a brand new coffee make, not a refurbished one. This machine has some drawbacks, on two different ocassions I experienced luke warm coffee. I am extremely upset that I was sent a refurbished model without my knowledge.

My wife loves this coffee maker, but... They last no more than 2 years so as long as you know this going in, you won't be disappointed. We're on our third one and keeping our fingers crossed this one lasts longer than the first two.

Great machine!
I always disliked the fact that coffee carafes had two functions; 1) to hold the coffee and 2) to pour the coffee but they failed to do the second very well - coffee always ended up dripping/spilling when pouring a cup of coffee. I got tired of the mess so when I saw this dispenser type coffee maker I wanted to try it out. This machine is great! It keeps coffee hot and fresh and no spills. It is so impressive that my folks and my sister have one too.
Buy one, you will end up spending less on coffee because this keeps coffee fresher and hotter longer than typical coffee makers!
