4.0 out of 5 stars I love this machine
I bought this 4 years ago. It still works great, coffee stays good and hot, never too strong. I wish is was less costly and that I had gotten it in the divorce, but I'm buying another one.

This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
Leaks from coffee reservoir floor after 3 months -- coffee/water actually pours out from underneath machine. No gasket, just molded plastic which means it can't be fixed. Unfortunate as it makes a great cup of coffee. Note that this is a well known problem with this coffeemaker -- just type in any web search engine, hundreds of complaints --- that the company is apparently extremely disinterested in fixing. Customer service is very poor as other reviewers have indicated, warranty/guarantee is worthless.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart Poor Quality Products, February 21, 2009
This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!! It simply stopped working less than 1 year after purchase. I also purchased a Cuisinart coffee burr grinder and it lasted about 3 months. Forget about trying to contact Cuisinart customer service, I tried finding it on-line and after an hour searching I gave up. Never again will I purchase a Cuisinart product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It!, September 17, 2008
This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
Don't buy this coffeemaker. It stops working after several months and customer service at Cuisinart is very poor. There are lots of reviews on another page about this. Many people have experienced the same problem. I don't know why the reviews are not on this page also.

1.0 out of 5 stars Aggravation on Demand, November 26, 2010
This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
Save yourself a lot of aggravation and money: DON'T BUY A CUISINART COFFEE ON DEMAND

Like many other unfortunates who purchased this coffee maker, I was seduced by the idea of having a carafe-free coffee maker. The Cuisinart Coffee on Demand worked problem-free for about two months, when it started leaking water on my counter every time I filled it.
I solved that problem by using a long funnel to fill it. But last week it suddenly started leaking a significant amount of coffee from the bottom of the unit and the amount of leaked coffee has been increasing by the day. I had to put a tray underneath it and the tray, which is 3/4" high, was full today. The unit is only 14 months old.

After spending some time online researching the problem and reading the many negative reviews from people who have been through 2 or 3 of these coffee makers, in addition to prolonged aggravation dealing with Cuisinart, I just unplugged it, cleaned up the mess and replaced it with my five-year old Krups that still performs very well. While I am inclined to pursue the problem with Cuisinart because it's still under "warranty," these reviews made me realize that I'm unlikely to ever get one that doesn't develop the same problems or much worse. While leaks seem to be a chronic defect of these coffee makers, some consumers have experienced electrical problems with these coffee makers that are downright scary. I'd much rather clean a carafe daily than wipe up coffee from the counter and floor or risk a fire.

Even for the short time it did work properly, I found the inside of the unit, which gets caked with coffee residue, very hard to clean. It also has to be decalcified every 30 brewing cycles and even more frequently if you have hard water.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delivers conveniently., June 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
This is our third one of these. It makes good coffee, and delivers a cup at a time conveniently.

It seems to last for two or three years and then the relay that controls the heating element gets flakey. You can keep it running long enough to order a new one (who can afford a repair shop these days) by slapping it on the side a few times until it starts brewing. (Otherwise it would get 5 stars.)

It only delivers coffee into a cup (no carafe) although you can pull out the cistern and pour into a thermos if you need to.

We never use the programming feature as we don't get up at the same time everyday. We do use and like the Auto-Off feature after 4 hours.

My recipe is: fill water to 9-cup level, and put a level half-cup measure of coffee into the basket. A little more for 11 cups; a little less for 7.

My wife is German, and likes coffee a bit stronger than the usual coffee you get here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, poor design and too expensive, April 24, 2011
This review is from: Cuisinart 12 cup Coffee on Demand Stainless Steel Programmable Coffemaker
This is a great concept but the design is awful and the price to way too high. The unit will drip and then quit working - period. The person who said cuisinart customer is very poor is right. They wanted me to send the unit back at my expense. They did send another unit, and it had the exact same problem, it leaked and then quit working. Did not even work for a year.

We use this for our 8 person office. Works great - no issues to report what so ever. We had sampled one of these machines last summer and loved it! I knew that was the one our office liked and needed. Definitely recommend.
